ok, so I am applying for a job in market research, specifically branding and communications.
One of the screener questions is "what is the most creative communications campaign you have seen recently and why do you rate it" Now I'm not entirely sure what "communications campaign" covers. It sounds like it would mean more than just an advert I like, but would it be an advertising campaign? branding scheme? I really don't know. Any ideas? ____________________________________________________ Did you know? When it snows, my eyes become large and the light that you shine can't be seen. wanted: someone to listen and respond to random opinions from a random personality. not TOO serious, please. people who think they're reeeeeeeally funny need not apply, because they so rarely are. ~ Limertilly http://www.flickr.com/photos/fionchadd/ - there are actually some photos here now (shock!) |

Communication Campaign.
Basically, any sort of advertising thats purpose is to get people talking both about the advertisement and the product itself. ---------------- There was a single blue line of crayon drawn across every wall in the house. "What does it mean?" I asked. "A pirate needs the site of the sea," he said, and then he pulled his eye patch down and turned and sailed away. |

It covers everything you think it could, not just advertising, questions like this are usually asked to enable you to draw from a wide experience so you can choose from the greatest number and show you can evaluate how effective they are, not to check whether you understand that term. You know, I can't think of one a communications campaign that I've really liked, but I can tell you right off one that annoys the heck out of me. The fake snark of those anti-smoking ads. And they've got them on the internet, so when I'm checking other people's blogs, my computer is quoting tabacco executives at me.
I swear, every time I see a commercial or a web ad about them, I think of that episode of South Park where the kids start smoking to spite the horrid anti-smoking PR "rap group" that comes to their school. The "Straight talk" and "Hope" messages from the political campaigns might be good to talk about (especially the "straight talk" thing, and carrying over branding from prior campaigns), though it might be good to avoid talking politics in a job interview. I'd say to do some websearching on ads for whatever industry you're applying in, just so you can talk knowledgeably about the competition. Our firm just launched a new ad campaign that reminds me a lot of the old "Just Do It" Nike ads, which I wouldn't have expected from a law firm. Isn't Spook County about viral marketing? Maybe bring that up, if they ask you about hobbies? |

...Is the ad tagline "Just Sue It?" **** "Chives?" "Yes, m'lud?" "Is that Ms Ephemera hovering over the croquet lawn?" "Indeed m'lud. She's marshalled all the haggle-dans. Missy-twigs and vale-nymphs from Claypole Woods. Apparently she intends to tear this house down and dance on the ruins." "Well, Chives, you'd better start the car, what? And pack my tennis things too" --- Joe 3Heads |
