Maybe this is a more subtle version of Wallace's lining the streets with police speech. He's going to handle all the education problems with brute military force?! |

I nearly had heart failure the other night when we looked up what American teachers are paid. It equates to £15 000 a year, on average. British NQTs (newly qualified teachers) start on £18 000 in urban areas and £17 000 otherwise. And more in high-demand areas/subjects.
Also, I don't think I'd want someone fresh back from a combat zone in charge of children. I mean, kids in Belfast used to bang bags behind soldiers to freak them out when I was wee. And kids are that cruel, they would do it. You get someone with PTSD and it wouldn't end well. ------------------------------ You are a Leprechaun. I'm not even sure what you are. Whiskey-soaked reports from your baffling Isle of Ire raise more questions than they answer. Are you a dwarf? Where's your pickax? If you're an elf, why don't you cobble? You'd think with all your gold, you could invest in some land, perhaps a title, and improve your station. Instead, you hide it in meteorologically-determined locations. You're getting killed on inflation, little friend! |

school board meeting here in California and they were debating on increasing the size of the classrooms so they could keep the school psychologists or get rid of the school psychologists and lower the size of the class.
Would you believe one of the board members joked "if we increase the size of the classes all the kids will need the psychiatrist" As if that is funny! Our education system compared to Europe is tragic! I realized that when meeting kids in college that came from Europe and they knew our history better than we did! |

Earlier during talks about the second debate someone( tongster, I believe) brought up the BRADLEY EFFECT.
In the poltical arena this is being scoffed at mainly because I think the polls in question were in fact questionable. I come from an entrenched belief that polls\graphs\surveys are what you make them. You can poll and come to a conclusion that all people prefer rotten pork over reading. I am reversing my look on the outcome can be extrapolated from the early polls. I have yet to be surprised by the world so the record is on the line. This fight will be won in the last two weeks. and will be decided by UNIONS, CHURCHES, and BIG BUISNESSES(that are, people will soon see, more deadly when pushed into a corner. They may be hurting for money but people still fear them none the less). Which brings another question ...first, did anyone see the thursday night show of DAVID LETTERMAN(McCAIN) and then at the exact same time LENO(BIDEN)?DAVID grilled McCAIN, LENO was BIDEN's best friend. Second, How exactly do americans pick the electoral voters? Someone told me the process was and i quote, blah, blah, blah keep it in the family unquote. I was referred to an interview where the subject was asked if she was an electoral voter she nodded yes and then said her mom is one too.She alluded to her mom giving her the nod. this can't be right but I wonder how many electoral voters are related by blood or biz. |

Concerning the electoral voters: Regardless of the system itself, the voters have overwhelmingly voted in accordance with the wishes of their states. It's just not "done" that an electoral college member would vote against the wishes of their state. Lynch mobs and pitch-forks and torches come to mind.
I might be making this up, but I dont believe there has been a single instance where an electoral college member voted the "wrong" way. Feel free to double check me on that though. Cause I really could be making that up in my own mind. ---------------------------- "How do you get from here to the rest of the world?" |

I just looked it up. Turns out there was 1 college member who refused to vote for Gore in 2000, but it had more to do with protesting that DC doesn't have any federal representation, than the actual presidential election. Regardless, there has never been a case where electors changed, and thus actually changed the results of the election.

LOVE that piece. though it's actually called "What Teachers Make" "Like, You Know?" is also briliant. "Ah, but what if we take out the wrong half, and she finds out, kicks the schmutz out of us and puts the two halves back together and then REALLY kicks the schmutz out of us?" countered the Dr, "It would be safer to move the whole operation to Costa Rica, get on the net and find a cheap flight" |

thank you. that part almost made me cry, as I would like to be a teacher but can't in this state because I didn't major in education (I majored in my areas of interest instead). but, oh, being a veteran makes you qualified. well, fuck me, I shoulda joined the army! asshole. okay, so about abortion. I am personally morally opposed to abortion, as I believe that a fetus is a honest-to-god human being pretty damn fast. (in the "life of the mother" situations, I'm not ass enough to say that the mother and her doctor should not be able to choose their course of action, so please nobody hurt me. and I also know that there's no definitive answer to "when does life begin?" so my opinion is just that: an opinion. no harm, no foul, to people who opine otherwise, I hope.) but I thought McCain was an asshole. he was condescending and patronizing and...seriously, you want government to be smaller? how about not telling people what choices they have to make? and then ridiculing the notion that there are situations in which the life of the mother is at stake? what a bastard! and then running his mouth about not putting potential Supreme Court Justices through a litmus test...until the moderator forced him to admit that he thought a pro-choice justice wouldn't be qualified. that was awful. but I have a genuine question to ask. please don't take it as anything other than that. in the case of late-term abortion, specificially partial-birth abortion, are there any cases where a mother's health/life has been or would have been saved through that proceedure? it has always been my understanding that the dangerous part of carrying and delivering a baby was mostly over by the time its head crowns. so, if the baby's head has crowned enough to make a partial-birth abortion proceedure possible, how does the proceedure affect the health/life of the mother? ~ We're just babies making up a game, if you're right. Partial-Birth Abortion is a purely political term, designed for an emotive response. And the idea that it's performed when the head is crowning is utter rubbish. The actual procedure is Intact Dilation Extraction, and in essence the foetus is removed through the cervix, in the breech position. The head crowning is more emotive nonsense dreamed up to provoke reactions in those who won't bother researching. The abortion is not performed mid-birth. It is exceptionally rare, most commonly being used to remove an already dead foetus.

yeah, you're making that up...complete shot in the dark of hope. the hail-marys, of hail-marys, this is done on a regular basis at every election. Wait , let me reword that, there is probably one instance where the electoral voters voted only for their respected parties. my beef is how they are elected. Not to mention what is the average income per HOUSEHOLD of these voters? This is something where nepotism can not be tolerated and it seems to me this is a cable of people unable to understand the average, or JOE the PLUMBER, citizen. Colin Powell has delivered a shot that may have disrupt the republican camp and solidify the hate mongers purposes. Woe is the day after the election for americans ,no matter which side wins. |

This is hardly an EFFECT of a study since the surveys were not controlled(proof of being able to vote). It is being scoffed at by most people of all races and genders. Is there another example of this proved thru an election? To add, where 'registered' voters all verbally committed and then changed on election day when nothing more from either parties could sway voters? |

*blink* BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Effect of a study? WTF? Registered voters verbally committed? "Scoffed at by most people of all races and genders"?? (I'd like to see YOUR back-up evidence on that one, and how many genders are you working with here?) ______________________ Fandangling across the moony sky, went the Beezee bold as brass, side-saddle she sat, on a big painted bat, shooting moonbeams out of her a(censored)e. ~Joe ________________________ Isn't sanity really just a one trick pony, anyway?
