From the local legend that I hear Lou Malnati used to be the pizza cook for Pizzaria Uno's and Dues, then left and started Malnati's.

I will lobby that we go to Uno's or Due's as that's just so...Chicago! And Punk says is was the best pizza she evar had!

Big Grin

ETA: re: the wait, yup I have waited 2 hours before for a table at Uno's & Due's, but there IS a bar!

We have a huge (well, decently long) list of restaurants that we like... most not in D.C. proper but on the outskirts...

Just tell us price range and preferences (any particular cuisines you like/dislike, etc.) and we can name a few places.

If all else fails, there's always Mark's Kitchen, which serves American, Korean, vegetarian, and vegan food. Most anyone can find something to eat and it isn't too pricey. Not fancy, but good food and the Takoma neighborhood eatery.

Emerald, are you a native Marylander or Virginian?

I think you would blow BtB's mind to either have or go to a Maryland Crab Boil with plenty of of National Bohemian ("NatBo"). Although, Clipper City may be more 'upscale'.

I think the crab season will have started in June.

If anything, get 3-dozen 'take away' bluepoints, and two racks for home. Strip away the tablecloth, lay down the newspaper, handout the wooden mallets, open the beer, and start eating spicy crab. Great fun.

Marylander, but always lived on the edge of D.C. so don't always do the traditional Maryland things...My father is from Annapolis and my mother grew up in Silver Spring.

Unfortunately, I can't eat spicy things. And we are a bunch of nondrinkers.

Crabs are definitely classic MD, but I don't know if we are going to be able to do anything like that. This is going to be a weeknight, most likely, and Cho and Mr. Cho are at work all day...

We're flying in hella late at night on the 2nd, will be around on the 3rd, and maybe for breakfast on the 4th.

Then we're heading to lovely Iowa for my Grandma's birthday.

I'm excited to see people!

I can make it but Mrs. Lan sadly cannot.

I will post my times later when I have my vacation calender in front of me. I should be available that whole week if need be.

If the plan is still to do the Taste and fireworks on the 3rd, then I'd like to offer my place in the burbs for a traditional 4th of July backyard BBQ if people are up for that.

Maybe it's time for a PM at this point?

Please start the PM, Ms. Nel. Smile

I'll be in New York come Thursday, but I'm happy to go along with all BBQing plans and eating plans and firework plans.

Hey, I just realized that this trip will coincide with me being up in DC (I'm there Monday June 23 through Friday the 27th). I'll be busy during the day, but should be relatively free at night.

Can someone email me the plans? Not enough time to go through the thread...

Hotel internet is just leaving me ten minutes to tell you all about meeting Wanderer and Weeble and Digital Primate.

Um...

It was great. Big Grin

I'm sorry, I will post more once I get to a genuine computer. I ate Ethiopian and Creole cuisine! And Wanderer showed us Brooklyn, which was awesome and so is he. And Weeble surprised me and made me laugh. And Primate is one of the most surprising people I know. Smile

Hooligan, no group plans as such but hubby and I will be happy to meet you. I'll send you a PM tomorrow.
