I love you, and "Casa Gurgle" always make me want to go make sure your floor drains are working.

Are your floor drains working?

She just hit me with a baseball bat and pointed at her mouth.

I'm still confused.

I am in the NY metro area. I have to recommend Lufthansa airlines. I have traditionally booked my flights to london and manchester through them and had excellent luck. The germans feed you well AND give you lots of alcohol... which I felt was great. British Airways were ok too but pricey-er.
And just so you know - if you want to do a couple of the NYC touristy things James can take you - but he's a Brooklyn boy with something against Manhattan! I'm not originally from the NYC area but I do enjoy the city. So, if you want someone else along to even him out... Smile

Things were a bit spottier for them on that route in 1940. Very high landing fees, cotton stockings on the stewardesses, and flak.

But maybe you're not that old.

yes, good point... but a bit before my time. And I meant Lufthansa flights from NYC to London and NYC to Manchester. Of course they take you through Frankfurt.

I can't speak for the other cities, but the B&Bs in Chicago are generally either terribly overpriced or just plain terrible. (I would guess it's the same in NY, but they probably have some nice B&Bs in the Georgetown area in DC).

Last time Chris and I were in Chicago, we stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel, and despite the hotel design being absurd and overly trendy, we both loved it. The service was awesome, the staff were hot, it was centrally located, and the building it's housed in is a very pretty art deco thing. And the bed! The bed made me very happy. Check the hotels.com, expedia, and hotwire.com for discounts.

There is a itty bitty tiny possibility that Mr. Tong and I might be able to make it out to Chicago on 4th of July Weekend. Tiny. But the Taste of Chicago sounds awesome and I'd like to check it out.

I'm pretty sure I can be there Wednesday for the day/evening/night and head home early on Thursday. Prolly less than 24 hours, but it'll be so worth it. Mr. Royko, sir, I'll need a place to crash. Dibs on the futon and the furry foot warmer Smile And if I decided to fly, I could get to your place from the airport via public transit, no?

I just priced Southwest! I could do a round-trip for just over $120, and that would likely give me at just 24 hours and save on the crazy driving I'll be doing that weekend already.

Perhaps I should be more specific. Food that can actually be found in D.C. at a reasonable price.

Razz

Though I can ask Cho, who can find almost anything on the web, about your request.

So far it looks like:
20th-24th June: NYC
24th-2nd July: Washington
2nd-6th July: Chicago

Cost of travel without hotel: about 950 Euro. Seems okay.

Nel, thanks for the floor offer. I'll have to talk to the Mr. about it. That means sleeping bags, right? And is there public transport to the city center?

You're a nutcase, too. Big Grin It took me half a day to figure out what you were talking about.

Thanks, Emerald!

Ava: Thank you, I'll let you know. Brooklyn boys are supposed to be dangerous, I may need help!

Jocelyn, the Hard Rock Hotel sounds interesting. And if you could come that would be awesome.

And yay! Beezer and JP and everyone! You can help me identify Chicago-ese foods!

*raises hand* me, too. floor drains? (sorry about that black eye, though. need to get Miss Astrid in line. or feed her. whatever. Razz)

as to the food issue, the last time I was in DC, my friend and I randomly picked a restaurant in Chinatown, and it was good. I kinda like just running into whatever establishment looks most interesting. Smile

Floor is worst case scenario; I have a guest bedroom with a really comfy futon and an accommodating couch. I just mentioned floors in case lotsa people wanna crash.

Public transport...not really. I live kinda in BuFu, but I have a reliable car and a valid license! If you prefer to stay in the city, I would volunteer my place for a summer barbecue one night.
