Okay so in light of the fact that quite a few boardies are planning on heading to this next year.....
The Plans! So are you going? I know that some of us have mentioned trying to rent an apartment in san diego for a week to make this affordable, anyone else keen on this? Also myself and MG are planning a nutjob roadtrip to get to San Deigo, it maybe cheaper to fly, but the fun to be had with driving 4000-6000km's each way is fantastic! So far we have another volunteer on our road trip across the states, the lovely NicoleH! Anyone else keen to road trip? Or wish to have visitors (if you are roughly located between toronto and san deigo of course!)  |

The main flaw in renting for a week in San Diego is that you won't get to stay for Sunday. Basically every condo/apartment rental there runs Saturday to Saturday (as Jena learned when booking us for last year). Granted most of the major panels and such are on Friday and Saturday, so you won't miss out on a huge amount, but it is worth noting, since it means you would have to check out before going to con on Saturday, and find a place to leave your stuff. We actually just rented a hotel room for the last Saturday night, for those of us that were left.
Our schedule being what it is, Liz and I will probably just stay in a hotel this time around. I know it's going to take us 2-3 days solid drive time which makes a week there if we are doing stuff, and then we could make the trip back in 2 days if we drove solid/minor breaks

It will be kickass. I finally got my ticket so there's no excuses now! I'm definitely up for the sharing of an apartment or something similar, or even a bunch of hotel rooms.

My friend and I might want to go, and lo and behold my mom's friend owns an apartment or something out there, that we might be able to stay in....Me and my friend, of course, I don't think I could fit the entire board in there if I wanted to. :P

definitely not attending the 2009 Con, as we'll still be settling in, and depending on if/when I get a job there will either not be enough money or not enough vacation leave. I am however sorely tempted to go in 2010. Because 2010 is in the future. *nods sagely*

I have already bought my ticket for next year. Since I live 35 miles north of San Diego, I just took a cab down each day, got there 4:30 in the morning and split by 11 pm each day. The cab ran $100 per day but considering the rooms in San Diego can run upwards of $200 per night that was a good exchange.
This year, I was 3nd in line to get in for preview night...loads of fun! So staying farther away might be more economical. |

I fear I am in the wrong US state to get a visit on the road trip - I doubt you guys will be going through Pennsylvania.
And although I can now afford it, I just really can't fit it in. At least... at this point, I don't think I can.
