I prefer to live in a country that's small, and old, and where no one would ever have the NERVE to wear a cape in public, whether they could leap tall buildings in a single bound or not.

the parrot... ...gets tiresome.
the parrot... ...i ate him.

I've been watching the Discovery show Wild Pacific and they had an episode about these things. Fascinating.

Remember Big Dog?

There's now a recent version of the Little Dog, which for some reason is on the border between cute and creepy.

The thing that surprises me the most about that article? It was published by bbc. No American newspaper would publish that. At least in that form. They would dumb it down for the general population. I would've only seen that detail in a scientific magazine like Nature or Scientific American.

Pretty cool stuff though.

Very much so. It's turtles (and/or bosons) all the way down, it seems.

So we're happy to see this project to paint the mountain. I can tell you this morning there was snow on the ground, something we rarely see.

This cracks me up so much, this is why newspaper reports should be shot, personal accendotes within a supposedly science story, which really do nothing but spread misconceptions among those that don't know any better.

You mean... paint isn't really the same thing as snow? gosh.

Er no the local was implying that the painting project had managed to induce snow already after two weeks.....

Exactly.

A guy I work with uses the example:

His wife started working at a University in 1989 as a nursing professor. The University basketball team won the national championship that year. Therefore, her hiring must have caused the team to win.

It's obvious to most people that this is false, but why would they believe the painted mountains?!?
