it feels new to me because of the weather changing. I love fall.

when is spring due?

~
I prefer to live in a country that's small, and old, and where no one would ever have the NERVE to wear a cape in public, whether they could leap tall buildings in a single bound or not.

when's spring due?.

yes, and not as awesome as December, because there's no Christmas and no more days off to look forward to and just generally sucks. boo, January!

ahh, but the air smells so good in fall. *breathes deeply*

It feels like the new year to me too. But that's because I'm in college. So nothing really changed much. Personally the only true great thing I see in Fall is the psychotic fun it's possible to get into for Halloween.

I love fall because then you get apples and pumpkins and leaf piles in the parks, and halloween. It is totally the start of a new year, though winter in the Uk means you leave the house for work in the dark and get home in the dark and get no vitamin D for about 5 months

Fall is awesome!

I don't know about a new year but Cincinnati always has a huge fireworks display on he river every Labor Day weekend.

It has always felt like like saying goodbye to summer.

Despite the dreaded "back to school" cloud over my head, I generally enjoy the fall. I think thats mostly just because it means Halloween, Thanksgiving and a large slew of other Holidays (plus a birthday!) are in short order. That and it means that I'll soon stop getting weird looks for listening to christmas music.

"What does it mean?" I asked.
"A pirate needs the site of the sea," he said, and then he pulled his eye patch down and turned and sailed away.

Less than two months til Halloween! (My favorite holiday!) it's sort of the kickoff of the holidays.
September! The month you start dragging out the fall and winter clothes. I always change the bedding to more fall like colors and switch out some of the nick nacks to other stuff for the season. Even part of my storage is split up by season and holidays. Biggest collection is Christmas and then Halloween.

September feels like the new year to me because it's usually the start of the new theatre season. Summer theatre is over and the new main stage season begins. My day job now runs on the school schedule, so the full session goes from September to June and the summer schedule is something different. So September is a new year there too.

Summer always feels like frozen time to me. Like it's time out from "real life."

yeah, it's pretty ingrained for me - 15 years of school, 3 years uni and ANOTHER one postgrad. I even had to buy a work diary for the academic year this year because of when I started my job!

Nice to know other people are just as baffled Big Grin

I say we should go back to the Julian Calendar. I want those 12 days back!

Actually it would be more like 19 now...think of it, we'd all get paid a lot sooner! Big Grin

"The other night I dreamed that King George VI was dead, and that Helen Hardinge had somehow or other got herself proclaimed Queen of England, and that I was detailed to go and tell her that it wouldn't do at all; and when I did this, all she said was, 'You see, I am really Queen Mary,' and I said, 'Oh very well' - words to that effect, and woke up.

Last night I dreamed that Eisenhower came to stay with us, and he insisted on being put to sleep in the dog kennel, with a collar and chain about his neck."
