I prefer to live in a country that's small, and old, and where no one would ever have the NERVE to wear a cape in public, whether they could leap tall buildings in a single bound or not.

Also- there's the bit about 'creating the art/design/layout'... unless the art folk agree to donate time. <---if so, how could we agree to divide up that end of things.

Yikes- this beast keeps growing heads!

Probably (when I get my fricking laptop's AC adapter back) we're going to need some Town Hall meetings with some webchat program every so often and then some Focus Groups meeting for the artists/designers, writers, and game (rule) developers.

The art can be done a few different ways, even having every one whom wants a card of themselves done to submit a graphic, but what we really need is a good standard design of the card itself, front and back that we'll use as a template.

And since this is a group project, I like to have as many Boardies involved with it as possible, to truly represent the mix of personalities here.

It looks like we're making real playing cards! Eek

I don't see why we couldn't give the data out for people who'd want to print out their own, but just a warning, it/they may be huge file(s) when we're done with it/them.

Next up will be organizing the Town Hall to create the subgroups and putting down real timelines for stuff. Is Google Wave any good? I've never used it. Is it something everyone could use?

When would be a good time and date for the Town Hall? Being a global board, we obviously can't accommodate everyone -unless we have seperate continental meetings, which may end up more confusing than helpful- so any suggestions on this?

There is a 6-7 hour time difference between me and most US boardies.

That means that a meeting in the evening in Europe will be in the middle of the afternoon in the US. Or if it's 8 pm in Chicago, it'll be 2 am here.

So I'd really really prefer if you USAnians could plan this some time in th afternoon (6 pm at the latest).

This probably means that we'd have to do it during weekends.

can't do art that doesn't involves making knots in string with sticks, still willing to contribute money.

We hold our WEFFL draft at 1pm CENTRAL US on a Saturday, and that seems to accommodate the spectrum of USAnians as well as the Scots that join us.

Just thinking out loud here, but part of the discussion for card art could entail something like the Dave McKean Vertigo Tarot cards (or any McKean art, really) where he uses all sorts of mediums to produce the work. I don't know how, exactly, and it would take someone pretty capable with manipulating photos to pull it off with some flair, but I could see integrating photos of textile art in some way, if it were at all necessary.

Just learned that Google Wave is still in beta, meaning that unless someone here is already a part of the beta, it'll be at least a month before one of us gets 'in'. So Wave is out for the moment.

Twitter? AIM? Facebook?

1pm Saturdays EST (6pm Great Britain, 12 noon CST, 10am PST) sounds good and if we all agree on a communications program, our first meeting will be on Saturday, February 13th.

We need people to help out with more than just art: game development, writing, QA (seriously; finding out the game isn't fun to play -after- we order 50 decks of cards is something that will NOT happen), proofreading, 'the person that can compress three paragraphs of data down into a twenty word blurb', group managers/bosses, and eventually people to overlook the card manufacturing and distribution. So if anyone wants to contribute, feel free to join the main Town Hall meeting Saturday and find out where you would like to help.

Just thinking out loud...

First, if you don't want to wait until the Saturday meeting(s), PM me if you want to help out and throw ideas at me.

Second, I think there's going to be two main groups starting off: Art & Design and Game Development/Writing. Yes someone can contribute to both groups at the same time. When say, the game mechanics are worked out and most of the other raw elements are made, we'll start a QA/Proofing group and a 'Finisher' group - people that put all the elements together and make them purty Razz. And then finally the Production/Distribution group.

GD/W + A&D --> QA/P + F --> P/D --> swanky card game

Hm...a number of us are on Google Wave. Including me, though I've never used it. Duncan, Aitapata and many others should know how it works.

That said, didn't we have a yahoo group at some point? Could we do that again?

I don't see why we can't have a Yahoo Group... It'd make file sharing easier for people that couldn't make the meetings...

So... can I gets a Google Wave invite please? Big Grin

JP beat me to it, I have it too but have little clue what to do with it. I think Dev has a basketball game on Saturday afternoon, but I'm generally around most times.

Can we get cards shaped like red balloons? or at least have red balloons on them.
