Anyway (from the snarky Defamer.com):
Warner Bros. chooses Constantine director-with-two-first-names Francis Lawrence to direct the now-fastracked I Am Legend, a property first put into development in 1799 and once involving the teams of Ridley Scott/Arnold Schwarzenegger and Michael Bay/Will Smith. Once a cast is set, Warner Bros. can safely delay the project indefinitely, giving a new generation of talent a chance to never make the movie. [Variety]

I thought Constantine was OK, but I definitely don't want him to direct this film.

Now we know what else was going on between the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812.
And here I though we were just expanding settlement and establishing a government.

(obviously why the movie got put on the back burner)

to be fair, the novel was already adapted twice... once with Vincent Price ('The Last Man on Earth') and once with Charlton Heston ('The Omega Man'). i haven't seen either, but i love the novel... so i wish they'd get someone like David Fincher to make the movie

Same here. I gave up after thirty minutes. Keanu Reeves in NOT Constantine, not even close.

It looks like the former productions were going to make a super action movie out of it. Omega Man is sort of a camp classic (the vampires are all albinos), but I haven't seen the V.P. one.

On a side note, it looks like "30 Days of Night" is on the fast track again.

On a broad note, I read Comingsoon.net on a daily basis for movie and DVD news. It's a fabulous resource. They have a great new interview with Tim Burton about "The Corpse Bride."

Perhaps they were just waiting for the novel to be written and film to be invented before finishing the movie...

i'm looking forward to two new movies about Bob Dylan: Jim Jarmusch's film with him played by different actors, including women, kids, etc (yeah, Solondoz did it in Palindromes too) and a Martin Scorcese documentary

is this where i get to say i'm excited about all the movies that came out in the states last year but have yet to come outhere? ok exaggerating a little, but seriously the oscars is usually a what should i go see next year thing

I'm out of touch when it comes to movies, books, and such. I'm usually the last one to know.

This is completely unofficial, just me snooping around a certain person's research library (until the publicist saw me and shooed me away-well, she really rapidly escorted me away), but perhaps a certain professor is going to be involved with some grail like object.
