i was trying to think of a title for this thread, like, "for the parents" or "films R us" but i gave up and decided to let the article speak for itself.

I thought 'The Dark Crystal' totally sucked; a real waste of Muppets. Chitty Chitty -- I don't know - I thought that I liked it as a kid, but as an adult I couldn't stand it - part of the criteria should be -- do I want to have this soundtrack repeated ad nauseum for the next 5 years?
What was the one, oh, 20 years ago with the wish dragon (that looked more like a wiener dog crossed with a scotty crossed with mass quantities of DGH (dog growth hormone) and tinkerbell dust)? Perhaps there's no 'geek' angle there, except that he does get to scare the bull' (oh right - no spoilers) Or 'Honey, I Shrunk the Kids' ... |

i've seen 6 of them and love those 6
i would add as the other 4 - the neverending story (books becoming real hello!) - bill and teds excellent adventure - jurassic park (scare the crap outta them but actually a good well done introduction to what dinosaurs are like) - something like daryl or under the mountain 80's alien/robot children movie.  |

I saw Escape to Witch Mountain as a little kid, and remember it as brilliant. I've nevr seen it since, so have no idea if this is true, but it lodged as something special in my mind.

I've seen 5 or 6, some of them veryveryvery long ago. Hence the "or 6" - I'm not sure whether I've seen the British "Time Bandits". I definitely remember seeing a french comedy with that title.
Haven't seen My Neighbour Totoro, but I *have* seen Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, and Howl's Moving Castle - does that count? I think they need to add The Princess Bride, Neverending Story (aah-haaa-haaa, aah-haaa-haaa, aah-haaa-haaa  ), Labyrinth, The Last Unicorn and ET!Domi, if Neverending Story is too scary for you, I'd recommend Michael Ende's other great kids story Momo - if it weren't only available in German. ****************************************************************** Superbly Sublime Splendiferous Sterling Shiftmaster of the Realm of Unproductivity and Procrastination ****************************************************************** You are a Player. thats more tween, it's bloody scary in places, though so is jurassic park i guess Also the last unicorn sucks arse, there are several disney movies with higher calibra and better animation, also not particularily geeky. Oh and Stardust has to be on our list now! |

Well, Hal, I loved The Last Unicorn as a kid, and I think Molly Grue is kinda geeky.

But isn't that an assumed point? Of course when you talk about films and music and tv, people will express their opinions. Stating that someone is expressing their opinion afterward might be slightly more polite, but it seems redundant. Besides, sometimes an opinion is just right.
