We stare at the array of white, pink and purple shoes for about 30 seconds. "How about the men's section - I'm not proud!" I say. We go to the men's section. I find something in brown. She finds my size. I'm out of there in about 10 mins. Shoe shopping for the year, done and dusted.

Big Grin

sounds very similar to my experience.

*walk into shop*...*walk around shelves*...too high, too silly, too expensive, flat, cheap, fit...out of there...

i think it took about 10 minutes for my last pair and 2 and a half minutes for the one before - that was a positive shoe shop, or as close as one gets.

i also need shoes - for my cousin's wedding next weekend - and am equally undesiring of shopping for them.

I must be weird as well (Is anyone really surprised? Big Grin) It's not that I dislike shoes, but I need a certain version which is difficult to find and usually expensive. So I buy the best made shoes I can find and wear them for years. My current sandals are on their third summer, if not fourth, and I wear them nearly every day that's warm enough. Which hasn't been many so far this year.

I generally wander through shoe stores/sections thinking 'When did shoes become so fugly?'

I hate trying on clothes. I prefer plain jeans and suddenly it's impossible to find anything without spandex in the fabric. I hate stretch jeans. And so I bought men's jeans.

It's nearly impossible to find t-shirts that aren't in goofy colours (I look awful in pastels) and so lately I've just bought a great many black t-shirts. I got lucky a while back and found some that fit nicely, in colours I liked, so I bought four.

Money should be spent on books. and yarn. and cheese and chocolate.

What I really dread the most is shopping for underwear. Getting all the way undressed (over and over again), staring at myself half naked in the mirror (I swear they use funny mirrors), with that horrible fitting booth light (why TL, why?), feeling potbellied and saggy and pasty and hating my scrawny thighs.

And the pretty things almost never fit, and no matter what kind of pep talk I give myself beforehand, I always wind up feeling like there has to be something very wrong with my body since they don't fit, surely they fit other women, why would they sell them otherwise?

And it's near damn impossible to get the bra back on the hanger.

I don't even try. Packaged Target stuff- I already know what sizes and brands work.

PBS cooking shows Saturday morning.....I'm starving!

I thought I could get away with merely cutting up the legs of jeans and somehow they'd be square enough to make a tote bag. But they're wonky, so, more cutting.

And I think I'm listening to the Musical Commentary far too much.
