TV shows I should like:

24
Lost
Supernatural

I tried to get into them all and just didn't care. They all meet my criteria for stuff I should like, but oddly, I don't.

Music: Pandora is convinced that I should like The Foo Fighters, but I just... don't.

24 seasons one and two were good, but at the point I'm sure they wouldn't look as good. After that . . . well, the quality drops off.

The other two are more of an acquired taste than anything else - I know people who hate supernaturally, conspiracy type shows who love Lost because (and I'm quoting my sister-in-law here), "It's like Survivor, only really creepy." I mean, I don't know how Survivor prepares you for a show where you have to shoot polar bears on a desert island, but whatever.

After growing and using real pumpkin goo* I can no longer stand canned pumpkin - and I don't like the ginger and cloves or allspice stuff. Mine has just brown sugar, cinnamon and a bit of nutmeg. And wine.

*This year I found a Cinderella Pumpkin - French Heirloom, AKA Rouge V'If d'Etamp - and this one is just excellent, smooth texture, wonderful taste, this is what I'm gonna grow this year.

I remember when 24 first started and I was really excited to watch it - I mean, I like Keifer Sutherland, I liked the whole concept of the show. And yet I had to force myself to sit through the first ep.

The comic book, Y The Last Man.

This has been recommended to me by so many people but I never felt that the premise was carried out convincingly. I love the idea of the story but the execution left me feeling cheated.

I was underwhelmed.

I told myself I'd love 24 if I could bring myself to watch past the first episode. I told myself "It's Kiefer! You love Keifer! Sure, he put on some weight, but hell, nobody's perfect!"
But no, I never managed to get into that show, all it left me was the fastidious feeling that Jack's bladder had to be really bloated by the end of those 24 hours. Tried watching season 2 and just got even more annoyed. The following seasons, didn't even try...

Lost, same, I remember that when it was first aired there was already this massive thing here on the boards, people mentioning how good it promised to be, this sort of more interesting than survivor with an edge of lord of the flies into it. I think it kinda raised too much my expectations, so when I actually got round to watch it, it just wasn't all that. By the third flashback I was already wishing for the whole cast to drown. The only thing that can make me watch an episode is his presence! Big Grin

Supernatural: I can only think of two reasons to watch the show. One & two. Storyline wise, it could even be about two janitors debating whether they should switch to a different brand of bleach. Still wouldn't damage the hotness of the cast. Really, really wouldn't! Razz

The flashbacks are what hooked me on Lost. I found it by accident flipping through the channels about episode 4 and I couldn't look away.

Battlestar Galactica.
Great writing, great cinematography, great acting... and an utterly joyless and miserable experience to watch.
I've forced myself to sit through seasons 1 and 2 in the same way I forced myself to read Moby Dick or my homework assignments.

Speaking of pumpkin pie, did you check out the LOOT thread? We put up our Mario Kart friend number there.

i know! i guess that really is a thing i should like but don't. i remember i was with a friend at a music store and she was looking at the dvd box of one of the seasons of lost, and there was this sticker on it saying "with more, previously unaired flashbacks!". i groaned.

At least I'm not the only person who was underwhelmed with Battlestar Gallactica. I keep feeling like I should give it another go, though.

I prefer to live in a country that's small, and old, and where no one would ever have the NERVE to wear a cape in public, whether they could leap tall buildings in a single bound or not.
