You know, i had forgotten about There's a Monster at the End of This Book until my niece made me read it to her. For some odd reason, i remembered REALLY liking the book as a kid. Now i have no idea why...

I still think it's a fun idea. Unfortunately, they made a sequel with Elmo. As with many sequels, it retreads the same ground without much to add

Gah, agreed there GM "Another monster at the end of this book" really bores me and Bailey (my daughter) to tears. That one's good for tearing into bits, licking, and sticking to the television screen as far as she's concerned. Plus, the ending just lacks, I don't know...a proper closure "no you're the monster, no you, no you....blah blah..." Grover did it best in the original. I'm such a snob...hehehehee

April-

I like the new language part- my son does it, too! Weird! He also likes to do names out of a little book, only his book is of jungle animals. smile His favorite is the hippopotamus. . . .

I've never heard the monster at the end of my bed book. . . . Sounds cute though. Niki is really into In The Land Of Sniggle Dee Bloop and On The Island Of Polly-Ga-Dew. (Or at least I think that's how the title is spelled?) Anyway, it's beautifully illustrated, has two really cute stories, and rhymes. Niki really loves stories that rhyme. ****Shrugs****

That's 'the moster at the end of the book' not 'the bed book' which is a wonderful children's book by Sylvia Plath that I grew up with. (re: the bed book. We had one copy growing up, my brother took it, my mother made herself a photocopied one. We found another copy, so my mom got that, I inherited the photocopied one. Then we, amazingly, found a third, so now I have a real copy and a friend of the family has the photocopy. I guess we had fond memories of it!)

You daughter sounds wonderful! I have nieces but no children of my own. I have the greatest respect for parents. My nieces are wonderful but I don't know how their parents keep up with them 24/7.

I heard in a song that parents are paid with "Angels pay" which is their laughing. smile

Oh, yeah, I forgot about that legal case a few years back. *Mutters in Homer-esque tone* "Stupid legal system."

Don Henley said it quite nicely: "The more I think about it, ole Billy was right, let's kill all the lawyers, kill'em tonight."

GMZoe:

Couple of "quick" things:

Was Chuck E. Cheese REALLY THAT bad?!?

I was passing thru a little while ago and saw a thread that said something like "Death to America" or something along those lines. I went off to do a search on google and when I came back the "Death" thread had a couple of responses and then next time I looked, it was gone. was that you exercising your moderatorial powers?

Do you sometimes slog thru the posts thinking to yourself, "Geez, I wish the server would go down for a coouple of days so I didn't have to do this wink.

Anyway, I wanted to thank you for being fair and more than reasonabley cool about what gets posted here. I did notice that the posts where SNW and myself had at are still up. Are those going to stay or go?

Oh, yeah, I've been on reasonabley good behavior recently, haven't I? wink

Wish your daughter a belated happy birthday for me.

it was exhausting. The tubes on the ceiling were fun, but that animatronic band is terrible - I stayed far far away. And it was really hard to talk to anyone (noise)

yes, I had that deleted. It was the equivilant of a crank phone call on the message boards.

no, but it is a lot of reading. I mean, I kind of passed by the drug threads, just skimmed them a few times, and missed your argument. So I learned I need t read every single thread (even, say, the Buffy one even though I don't watch) just to make sure verything is coo.

Anyway, I wanted to thank you for being fair and more than reasonabley cool about what gets posted here. I did notice that the posts where SNW and myself had at are still up. Are those going to stay or go?

I asked for two specific posts to be deleted, not everything. If they are still up, I'm not going to bother with them because it's old and buried. I'm more concerned with keeping the active threads civil then deleted past flames

Oh, yeah, I've been on reasonabley good behavior recently, haven't I? wink

well, you'll always be controversial, but no one's threatened to kll you in a day or two, so yeah :P

Wish your daughter a belated happy birthday for me.

the party was on the 10th, but today is her actual b-day. She's one my lap now. "WSLEr wishes you a happy birthday"... her response "eck" with her tongue out (she's tired)

Happy birthday to your daughter. smile smile smile
I have no kids, but all my cousins are young enough to be my kiddies. When they visit, and we always have to visit Chuck E.'s, I immediately notice that every adult in the building becomes a universal "parent." "Can I have tokens?" "Why can't I play on that?" "Is it my turn next?" It's exhausting, yet somehow still kind of fun. Once I even pulled a tiny tot from that huge pool of balls. He didn't even seemed shocked to see my hand and not his mommy's. It was so cute--he jumped in, and then this tiny little hand came up through the balls. But he was having fun.
I should mention that my cousins live across the country so this is a once a year event. If I had to do it on a monthly basis, I couldn't take it.
Those animatronic things ARE creepy. Have you seen the Dextor's Lab take-off on Chuck E. Cheese?

Elizabeth,

The Simpsons does a pretty funny parody of the whole Chuck E. Cheese experience, when Bart has a birthday party there. The funniets part is when Bart goes up to the animatronic band and the lead singer starts up and says,"Hello there!! What's your name?" Bart says, "Bart Simpson." The singer says,"That's great!! Would you like a special birthday song?" Bart says, "Hell no!" The band starts playing but one of them shorts out and catches on fire.

QUITE funny.

GMZoe,

I was just thinking that you sorta, kinda might like it on weekends 'cause not nearly as many people post at that time, wheras during the week, I can imagine that it might be hard to keep up.

If you were to "step down" as moderator, would you have a say in who would take your place, or is that up to Harper/Collins or you don't know?

Have a good one. smile

Well, I don't expect to be leaving any time soon (seeing as how Neil continues to be one of my prime hobbies), but if I were I could imagine them asking if I had any ideas on a replacement (just since I'm familiar with who is who) but I would not be the final word by any means.

"I have teeth in my belly"
