So, we were flying a kite again. The plastic dies fast because they're cheap kites (1.99). Our Justice League one is already dead, and the Barbie one is starting to die.
Zoe yells to the kite in the sky, worried it will fall:
"Barbie, don't come down! I don't want you to be cheap!"
(that cheap lady will go down anyway)

After that, we played water guns - the kind you pump up. We were just playing around, not firing them at each other (mostly just shooting ants off a tree). Mine was empty, Zoe's was not. I pumped mine up, pointed it at my head, and shot air at it
me: "Zoe, you do it" says I, expecting her to shoot her full gun at her head and get a big surprise
Instead, having sneaky feet of her own, she follows my example by shooting me in the head with her full gun.

We have done a lot of kite flying lately but Steven makes our kites out of trash bags and really lite wood. They don't look bad and fly better than those cheep ones. Our first kite this year was store bought and it died within 15 minutes.

Peace

I was thinking of recycling the skeleton from the cheap kites, but I don't think zed will let me (since it'd involve ruining her dead kites)

You can make really cool kites out of straws and tissue paper and string. They die fast, but they fly like you wouldn't belive. Smile

Jeff, just a quick note. Graeme is wearing his Manxom Vroom original today. It has four little race cars on it and the words "vroom vroom" in little white letters.

This morning, I was telling him all about the strange man named Jeff who also goes by the name Manxom Vroom. I think it was the way I said "vroom," like a car driving away, but he thought your board name sounded very funny.

And "Dweller in Darkness" always causes him to get a shocked look on his face. "Meadra" occasionally makes him laugh, but can surprise him also. He never just ignores it.

Heee. Big Grin It is funny. Everyone seems to have a different spelling of it. And "Vroom" is a fun word for kids to say.

Graeme sometimes says something like accidentally. He's found out how fun it is to make raspberry noises, but sometimes he loses control of his lips and makes these strange little farty sounds and cool words.

He's mastering the "G" sound. Now when he's hungry he starts going "Ga, ga, ga" very loudly.

I'm wondering what word he's trying to form. "Gimme?" Neither of us use that one, though.

*finally*, I can post on this thread....

Ok, my mom's boyfriend's granddaughter, Edie, 4ish, whom I saw while I was on vacation, was recently drawing a picture of me. She asks my mom what color my eyes were.

My mom : "Well, my color."
Edie : "No they're not."
Mom : "Well, what color are they?"
Edie : "Her eyes match her hair."

Which, considering that my mom dyes her hair, is the lovely implication that her hair color just doesn't match. And even if she didn't mean that, I rather like the idea that my eyes match my hair.

Edie is an amazingly well-behaved child. We took her to two museums while I was in Texas, and for a four year old, she behaved perfectly. I think she even understood what a Caryatid was.

Good for her! I'm 23 and I still don't behave in Museums!

Jaer
thinks that might be because the only vacatiosn his parents ever took him on when he was little were trips to museums and battle fields. So boring! And, conisdering the climate, so hot and humid!

Okay, so this is darn groovy, I think:

This one is a picture of me "with yellow hair" Big Grin drawn by one extreeeemely talented three year old. Yes, my bellybutton really is that big heeheheehe!! And, of course, I'm also a Simpson with the fingers and the Popeye arm. Hey, she's 3 - I'm impressed! I'm not sure who the purple person is. I think they were filler.

This is a boobyperson of some sort. Also, the flower and sun didn't scan very well but that's a damn cool flower with all sorts of detail but it's in pencil so it's hard to scan. I almost don't think she drew the flower but maybe found it at school and added the booby person. She doesn't really draw flowers. There are stacks of pictures of jellyfish, dinosaurs, people, fish and sharks but really no flowers. She is constantly "practicing" too. She really works at it when she gets an idea of something to draw. She's such a smartypants. I'm finding pages that have sections of drawings that are nothing but hairshapes or hands or smiley faces or different jellyfish body shapes. No short attention span here (thank god). Oh yeah, and I'll pop a photo up too while I'm at it.

Man, I need to win the lottery so I can stop sending her to daycare and be home with her!!! gah... I never thought I'd be this kind of mom. How odd that we actually CAN manage to be everything our parents were not. My mother couldn't wait to get away from us and I can't bear to even drop Bailey off at preschool because I cry all the way to work. Sheeesh! Ten years ago I was ready to have my tubes tied because no way was I EVER going to have a baby. Ain't life funny? Smile

PS: uh, don't get me wrong, though: one is all I want! I'm not saying I suddenly want a herd of em!

(*I will NOT moderate the booby picture, I will NOT moderate the booby piture*) Wink

A very good artist is she, merk! Zoe is doing the head=body phase of art right now, as well as some overlapping, but here's two recent pics of hers. First is a ladybug (she was sooooo happy to finally see a real one at the park last weekend), the second is a fairy from a TV show (hard to read the picture, as I said she's overlapping, but there you go. She loves fairies)

New Zoe story as related to me by her mom:

Zoe's baby half brother: *
Zoe's mum: I think he's saying he's hungry
Zoe: No, I think he's saying 'don't bite me big sister'
