Thanks for posting that - it just reminded me that that's what we'll be getting our 9-year old son for Christmas!

It's not bad. I can't really gush over it.I'm up to the civilization stage. It's a high concept game, but it turns out to be small simple games that take 2 hours. Then you carry over some of your progress from the last stage. The city stage is a little boring. All countries have the same vehicles with different skins, you can only build where they tell you. More like a mini game then an actual strategy game. Whatever. By this time I was bored and went to do something else.

If anyone gets the DS version, can you let us know how it is? I think that's likely the version we'll get first. I'd like to know how it is before I shell out $30 for it.

LOL! I can't play computer games anymore - they're like crack for me - I get seriously addicted (Doom was my entry drug) and can't stop, so the only games I play are small silly Flash games that wouldn't take long to get through all levels.

I was helping my son with his Pokemon games on his Gameboy for a while and told him that I had to stop as I was getting "Pokemon-illness" when I played to long. I'll still help him get out of a jam which he can't figure out on his own, but for a while I was earning all sorts of extra Pokedollars (or whatever they were called) for him just to give him a nice surprise. Also took care of his Webkinz for a while..because I thought it was fun and he could get some extra Kinzcash from my obsessiveness.

Diablo III is going to cripple me.

I played Diablo II, and one day I sat down and played...

Later that evening I tried standing up. It was almost 6 hours later....

my hand was almost frozen on the mouse

aaaaah! Everything seemed fine! But I evidently do not have a graphic card that meets specifications so I guess that I will be going for the ds version after all.

I will not give up!

I would love to try it, but it seems they forgot about ... developping it for Linux... what a shame.

Roll Eyes

My brother and I used to play Diablo II together for kicks, it would take far too long to come back to the real world.
Many hours of my teenage life were spent on that game. I am excited about Diablo III and Fallout III, though.

I don't have anything close to enough time to play either, but I enjoy them from afar. Frown

My favourite bit was watching some of the gameplay demo stuff for Diablo III from Blizzard that included a bit where you save the life of none other than Deckard Cain. They still have the same voice actor, which confirms that the guy in the original game was either a thirty year old man putting on a voice or an immortal.

There's actual dialogue between your character and Deckard, and coolly enough, it's a cut-scene which must mean that you get different cut-scenes, or at least different cut-scenes, based on classes. At one point, Deckard's trying to persuade you to calm down on your dungeon-deliving and the following bit of dialogue occurs.

Deckard: You do too much and try too hard. Stay awhile and l -
You: No time for that!
Deckard: No one ever listens!

Christy and I missed the rest of the dialogue.

The Barbarian!

Son+ forced me to watch the gameplay demos.

I'm trying to figure out what the weaknesses of the Witch Doctor must be.

Well, low hit points, for starters, and probably crappy defenses, and you're farming the majority of the damage-dealing out to minions and the like without much shown in the way of direct-damage effects like the sorceror had.

Diablo II had the minion-heavy druid class, but that class was pretty busted simply because the druid itself could truly kick ass, either as a werewolf or werebear. The witch doctor looks like an attempt to balance that while giving the class some more defensive spells. I haven't seen any official write-ups on the classes at this point.

Yeah. I liked the old druid. Apparently the Barbarian is the only returning character class but some of the others may show up in later expansions.

I do so love just bashing things when all else fails.
