Hello Joe who first hailed to us from the dusty American Gods section before adventurously diving into the zaniness of the World's End.

Welcome!

Welcome aboard!

Limertilly: A pagan deity forgotten by man and therefore banished to the realms of memory and darkness now remembered by a young girl in downtown L.A. in the form of a dream and therefore freed to reap your revenge on the people who discarded you, thereby forcing said girl to learn to use her innate yet awesome powers as a soothsayer to gather forces of the Earth to defy you and once more banish you to your cold, cold prisoooooon

Welcome aboard! We don't really frequent the Board much anymore (a lot of us have the meat world intruding on our internet time) but there's a thread around here somewhere that helps introduce us all...

*rummages* ah, here we are: Personal FAQs

It's been a while, but I think most of the info is still valid.

What are you thoughts on alpacas?

What is your favorite kinda of cheese?

If you had to live in one Neil Gaiman story/book, which one would it be and why?

Hello Everyone!!

I found this forum while looking for answers about some information about sources for my EPQ.
I like stories mostly, the most recent one I've read is Northern lights, which I started rereading after watching Andrew Marr's show about fantasy which, depending where you live, you might be able to find BBC Iplayer. I'm reading it again because I was much younger when I first read it and Marr sort of opened the door for me to see the profound discussion of religion and purity at the centre of those books.
In response to what I do - Im still at school, uni next year or the year after, depending on how exams go.

I'm enjoying the forum a lot, even if it sometimes feels a mite bittersweet that I've found so long after its heyday, I wasn't old enough to be on it back then!

You all seem lovely though and I'm looking forward to the rest of my time here.
A general question: When he releases new books, does the forum tend to pick up or has this been utterly supplanted by twitter?

Thanks again everyone!
Joe

Hi Joe,
I also joined the boards while i was in college many moons ago Razz So what's the topic of your EPQ?

Glad you're enjoying it here Smile I occasionally return here with some bittersweet feelings myself. In our FB group someone had said "Let's all go back to the board and pretend it's not 2016." I'm trying to make it a thing Razz

When we started dropping off the board for other social media, we'd flutter back for new books or movies, but i think it has happened less and less. I suspect the biggest resurgence might happen with the American Gods series, but i dunno :-/ certain people drifted towards twitter, others FB. Some keep up with both.

I'm glad you asked, my EPQ is about the differences in the ways that Snorri Sturluson and Neil Gaiman present Odin in The Prose Edda and American Gods and examining the ways in which the character changes and the reasons for the changes that are made. I'm handing it in soon!

I would much rather be here. I dislike the book of face, but I now default to it because it seems like a whole core of people/ideas is there.

I much prefer all my interests to be on separate boards though.

Every time someone says "Let's go invade the Board again" I come back and post a bit and lurk. Apparently this forum isn't phone friendly?

Since I am the originator of the sentiment fluffyllama quoted, I felt I needed to put that into action too. I hope it can be a thing. One advantage for me is that with my current role I am back to having a little more posting time around work. That was one of the things that led to my posting dropping off.

Welcome JJWeir!

Pretending it isn't 2016 is a favourite pass time of mine and it has to be said that I am very pleasantly surprised by the welcome you've all given me.
While FB and Twitter and the like have their merits, comment sections and twitter feeds are as difficult to navigate as they are to actually make any sense of.

The Board, and I seem to remember, the internet generally, was a friendly place 15 years ago. Then everyone else turned up.

Red Face I didn't mean that, and I don't mean here! The Board is still a friendly place, it's just that we deserted it.

I remember that in 2009 even Twitter was friendly. I think the rot set in from about 2011. (though that might be projection, from the fact that was the year my life went wrong)
