I was offered a new job on Monday, accepted it, and just got the offer letter today and turned in my Letter of Resignation.

OH MY GOD, CHANGE! EEK!

I'm super excited to start this new position, and scared about money, and pleased to leave my current job, and scared about money, and overjoyed to have more time with my family. But did I mention I'll be getting paid less? It's a half-time position. 3/4 time would be ideal, but hey.

Pardon me while I breathe into a paper bag over here.

It'll be fine, and you'll be great.
...and I'm damn sure more hours will be upon you sooner than you may even like.

Congratulations!

(I hope you mind it a teensy bit reassuring that my experience of working part time is that I spend less, as well as earning less - I have a little more time to solve problems that I previously had to throw money at.)

Yesterday I was invited for an interview at my old uni department - they're looking for someone to teach 1-2 courses of academic writing. I'd definitely like teaching there again, not least because it would mean some time away from my main job, which by now I'm pretty much sick and tired of. Wish me luck!

Thanks! I just found out that while I'm their second choice, choice no.1 already said that she doesn't want the position - so it seems my chances are pretty good! (And I'm beyond the sort of pride that makes me think, "Aww, man, I should've been their first choice!")

Not quite a job exactly, but I've managed to wrangle for myself an interview with the Chairman of the History of Parliament Trust, to volunteer for any researching work they offer. I'm excited! Smile
