Oh, another cool feature about Google Maps is when you do a real estate search and look at a listing, Google Maps with allow you to see the rest of the neighborhood from street level. That way you can see if it's well-tended or crap.

Re: google health. Do you just get a copy of your records from your doctor and then copy it all in? I have hard copies from my old doctor (got it before we moved) which covers the four or so years we lived in NH and I went to that doctor. I don't have anything from the doctor here (except for copies of the requests of the heart tests they did over the summer.) How do I get copies of my records? Just ask for them every time I go to the doctor?

I adore gmail. I should really use Outlook for work but can't bring myself to switch -sure, I'd like Google to not just filter and tag my mails as I tell it to, but also actually MOVE them out of the screen like Outlook does... But gmail tags have colours!! And searching for emails is soooo much easier! I save loads of info from about 3 professional mailing lists, plus clients' emails, so that's rally useful. Also, I lvoe that I can email myself stuff for backup when I'km working on large projects. Whent he themes started, I tried the tree one -and I don't think I'll change it back. It changes with your weather!! How COOL is that!

I also use reader, the "View as html" option in gmail (much faster than google docs, great for work), and Google maps is just the best thing when I get sent to strange places for assignments. And it tells me how to walk there!!

I'll check that Notebook thing, even though I didn't understand Amypata's explanation of them. But if she's excited, it must be good!

Basically, it's an uber-anal way for folks to organize their favorites/links/bookmarks. Accessible from any computer and you can organize it any way you want.

I have a TARDIS-themed iGoogle page! Big Grin
Gmail simply rocks. Love the labels (multiple labels possible! yay!), and I love the easy searching.
And GoogleTalk is just the best, straightforward chat program ever. I love the mini-chat function in Gmail for when I'm at work, but at home I use the full version (because there I have my Thunderbird for mailing).
And GoogleGroups! I love Groups! It's so much easier than collecting piles of Email adresses! And you can share documents and files and stuff! Big Grin

Notebook and Health seem a bit too much for me, also I think they might not be available outside the US yet. I've used Docs once or twice, but couldn't figure out how to export documents back into Word or OpenOffice.
Not too impressed with Maps so far - they seem to be much more accurate in the US than in Europe.
GoogleEarth was fun while I had it, but too much of a timewaster (and it eated a lot of RAM on my laptop dearest), so it had to go.

Bwahaha!! I didn't even ralize. *hugs trees*

I'll check that Notebook thing, if it's available, as soon as I go back to the office. But, for organising bookmarks and accessing them, dude!! Foxmarks!! Best Firefox add-on EVER!

Unfortunately, my work does not allow Firefox. We only have explorer, which is why I really appreciate the across-all-borderness of Google Notebook.

Shame on your work for not allowing Firefox!

Bossman uses IE on the work computer, but someone (before I came along) downloaded Firefox, so that's what I use.

I've started using Notebooks, Amy. I love it!

I'm scared of the idea of working without Firefox...

Which leads me to another Google thingy I love, Googlebar!! But not the default one included in your browser, but the real one, with all the cool features sitting snuggly at the top of your screen.

I was trying (after reading the Podcasts thread!) to find a way to get all RSS feeds to read from one wee box on my iGoogle homepage - is this what Google Reader does? Or do you have to go to a separate page to look at your feeds? (*le sigh* - laziest internets-user ever!)

aisha - if you go to your gmail page (the page where you access your e-mail,) there is a menu bar up at the left. You can access Reader from there. It opens a new browser tab and displays your Reader page there.

My company (all 5 of us) are officially switching to Google/Gmail from Exchange -- our exchange host is crap (if outage once/two months for an hour is crap, and occasional delays for BB syncing) -- it means we can cut $30/month per person for Blackberry Exchange Server.

So we're also incorporating google talk, and one of the other guys showed us how Calendar(?) automatically creates email/html forms if you create a task ... the project mgmt stuff is stuff I should know, but don't really give a crap about ...

what it could mean is that I could spring for a G1 phone - it's $20/month for the data connection though, and I suspect I'd have to pay for that myself - that'd be a fun toy, though.

That's neat, duncan.

I use google calender myself, but I don't do much that needs keeping track of. My friend Amber and her husband use it, too. She says the best thing about it is that you can overlay the calenders and see where things intersect. (I don't know how to do that.) Which will be helpful for them once the baby is born.

Oh, right, Google Calendar is also really cool - I actually *like* entering my schedule now, and it's all neat and well arranged and clearly laid out. I've added the calendar to my igoogle page, so I see which appointments are ahead every time I start Firefox. And I haven't missed as single one (that I meant to keep) yet!

We have a JP Family gCalendar that Rae and I use to keep our work and social things in order. It's nice because we always have access to at work and home, and can add things as they come up from anywhere. We made up a gcal just to plan our NYC trip a couple summers ago, then just turned it off when we were finished. Might open it back up for our Philly trip this summer, we'll see.
