Thanks to Smaug for reminding me last night, but dude, I'd completely forgotten about the Boardies this year. I also think I'm too damned busy right now to deal with it myself, so I'd like to ask if anybody else would be so kind as to tackle it for me this time round? Smile

There's not much to it:

- Post on Dec 1st or something the categories as they stood last year and sound out suggestions for new ones, or to prune off old ones.

- Post later on (say Dec 10th) For nominations to these categories.

- Then (say around Dec 20th) post the final round of voting with around four candidates per category.

- And finally (say January 1st or thereabouts) the results, with a snazzy and humorous ceremony.

I'd be more than happy to help the chap or chapette who'll take it on for me. I have somewhere last year's documents which I can forward on. And I might be persuaded to send them something as thanks for their help.

So, who will be a legend for me? Smile

Psst - can I design boardie awards to be distributed, like I did back in 2005 or so?

to confirm, this year the boardies are going to be ran by domi and punky with grey helping out with the awards, if anyone else wishes to help out i'm sure domi and punky will find them something useful to do, and until the first post from them goes up, i'll unsticky this one, it's job is done.

when's spring due?.

I think we should use this thread for suggestions for boardie categories!
We could post last year's categories and see if there are any we want to knock or add.
And then Domi and SP have the final decision about which suggestions they want to pick up.

If mark wants to change the threads title we can do that.

or domi and punky can start a new one and this is one more for the trash can late.

whatever people want to do.

which is why i think domi and punky should start a new first post explaining things.

basically, it's the boards awards ceremony.

we all vote on each other, as a way of saying 'thank you' for the hard work we've all put in to make the board a place worth visiting.

its different from the project as it's not each person doing an individual thank you but more a general collective of the great and the good of boardsters, posts and threads.

some of the picutures are now gone but i give you:

the boardies 2007
2006
2005

Observation: for the past three years, the winner of the "Best New Poster" has also won "Poster of the Year".

Sometimes patrons want to go where everybody knows their names, though it helps
when half of them are named John. When people want to celebrate, or commiserate,
they gather to your establishment. You provide the atmosphere, the warmth, rum,

you've overseen it all, and broken up a few bar fights, to boot.~
