Did anybody else watch the series premere last night? I think I've found my Buffy/Angel/X-Files replacement.

What is it about? never heard of it?

I saw the last half of it. I kind of thought it was silly. Then again I've never thought much of Buffy or Angel...this Slate article pretty much sums up my opinion.

For those of us who don't watch TV, Lost is...?

It's a TV show about a bunch of people who survive a plane crash and have to survive on a very creepy island, long and short of it.

It's on ABC Wednesdays at 8. The pilot episode is actually two hours but ABC split it to two weeks. Last night was the first half. The second half airs next Wednesday. October 2 ABC will be showning the full two hours at once.

I'm kinda mad, because I tuned in to it late and I think I might have missed the actual crash. Did they show the full crash at the begining, or did it just start with Jack laying in the weeds?

It started with Jack laying in the jungle. You got to see the crash from his perspective a little later.

Haven't seen the show yet, but did they crash at all? I mean, memories can be planted, crashes arranged . . .

No, I'm quite sure they crashed. You HAVE to watch the tape soon!

Hmm, I dont know. I think Jack said he blacked out before the crash, and then just woke up in the middle of the forrest.

I think it's kinda funny that they have the little hobbit in there as the bass player in a band.

Ravenina's article seemed to have been written by someone who decided before watching what they'd notice about what they were watching, but I did like the comments about Monaghan.

It sounds like they're going for some sort of Lord of the Flies type of thing with this show.

I was thinking the same thing about it leading towards Lord of the Flies [seems like it will by what next week's preview showed]

I couldn't help thinking about the "creature" that killed the captian though. I thought it was very Jurassic Park-ish

Saw it. Have great hopes for it. It's by JJ Abrams who does ALIAS, and that gives me big hope it will be twisty!

I loved how they blended the crash in, in parts and in flashback. Most shows would try to grab you with all the crash up front, to hook you ... but this way it's putting the focus on the PEOPLE first: we're survivors, here's what we survived, etc.

There is definitely something bad in the jungle! I hope they come up with something very imaginative! But the cast seems good, the inter-character conflicts ripe for exploring.

Imdb says it was a $5 million pilot, with the airplane wreckage costing $250,000. So hopefully there's a story arc they're putting alot of faith and $$$ into!

I never thought a yellow lab could be creepy but that one definitely was.

would lost be more worth while than smallville? that's probably a yes isn't it.

I thought that very same thing when he was ripped out of the cockpit. For a minute (before I hit the info button to see what was actually playing) I thought the station was showing the network premier of Jurassic Park 3 or something.

I'm hoping for something broader than mere dinosaurs though etc.

I want it to be the "Island of The X-Files"

Dammit, that spooky dog is full of the Black Oil (is that the term)?

I want portals to other alternate realities.

Some real Pulp Magazine weirdness ...
