Mostly awesome! * Fucking awful way to leave it with Rose though. Enough whining!* ------------------------------ You are a Leprechaun. I'm not even sure what you are. Whiskey-soaked reports from your baffling Isle of Ire raise more questions than they answer. Are you a dwarf? Where's your pickax? If you're an elf, why don't you cobble? You'd think with all your gold, you could invest in some land, perhaps a title, and improve your station. Instead, you hide it in meteorologically-determined locations. You're getting killed on inflation, little friend! |

~I actually nearly cried about Donna, though! That was sadder than if she'd done a Rose and just gone off!

Well. I was worried before I watched it and rather sad after. But not too sad (shut up now)

!!! eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
<3 <3 <3 <3 !!!!!! ~ Know what though I sooooo don't buy that that's the only way he coulda kept Donna from dying. What the hell is that, his name is The Doctor but I've never even seen him slap a bandaid on someone. Look, a little brain-plasticity treatment (such as will be available within the century if stem-cell theory has it right) a low grade post-hypnotic block to keep everything from coming back too fast & she'd be cookies n cake. Hells, even a little selective brain damage would keep her brain from frying itself, and you wouldn't need all that bullcrap with the whole "Ooooh we must keep everything hidden from you or you will BURN ALL UP!!!" :P y'know, there's some of us just have to fucking burn. I think the Rose situation came out relatively satisfactorilyish, wish people'd quit bitchin' about it. Still ticks me off that the resolution still leaves us with the real Doctor Unsullied By Base Human Emotion, given that the guy is obviously a f%$#*ing human. I know non-humans. They don't act like that. :P~ -Natalie ----*-*-*-*---- Not really human, just turns into one on the full moon. Mostly good but totally unecessary ending which must be scrubbed from my memory.

Which bit, Mark? I didn't think any of it was unessesary - all the things that happened were needed for all the various people to be desposed of satisfactoraly.

Don't deny you disapproved too!
I was actually quite restrained at the time...plus I don't think I would have won friends by throwing my sonic screwdriver at the TV. "I will to my Lord be true and faithful, and love all which he loves and shun all which he shuns." |

It was cheese-tastic - I'd have been happier with a bit more ambiguity. Mystery has its own rewards.
Actually, what it put me most in mind of was the Star Trek:TOS pilot, which had a similarly cheestastic romantic resolution. *********************** There once was a bard of Hong Kong Who thought limericks were too long. - Gerard Benson. |

Mark, what are you talking about? This should make you happy! Because the whole upswing of that scene is that that part of the Doctor which was "in love" with Rose has basically been amputated and left on the beach at Bad Wolf Bay. Literally, even. That version of him was grown out of a severed hand- the very severed hand that was created on the day of his last regeneration, the result of which was influenced by, in response to, and in fact caused by Rose- specifically, by kissing her. But now that's been chopped off & left behind, and know what else? So's Russel T. Davies. Look, hate him all you want but he did bring the series back to life when it was entirely defunct; and I know you're tired of hearing that but I for one respect the man's right to go down in a blaze of fucking glory. Russel Davies is gone! Romance is dead! Do the Happy Dance, Mark!

Vega, the fact is the whole Doctor being in love was a compltely pointless, vile and out of the Doctor's character thing to put into the show in the first place, and I'll never forgive him for it. As I said, the rest of the episode was entertaining in a flash bang kind of way, and at least it wasn't another Last of the Time Lords, and I'll give someone credit where credits due - that's not in restarting Who (there's more to it than just one man) but in making two decent epiodes - Midnight and Turn Left. Shame that's two out of twenty he's done.
And anyway I don't see how you can see the 'part that loved Rose' has somehow been dismembered and cauterised. It's a duplicate of the Doctor from his severed arm. This message has been edited.
