ok. this one is one i just am stuck on. i have a huge set of legal documents i need to create by mid-october-ish. i am slowly learning about conditional mergefields in a mail merge. which i didn't even know existed til today.

i need to have numbered paragraphs. they go like this:
1. thing that must be there
2. thing that must be there
3. thing that might or might not be required
4. thing that might or might not be required
5. thing that might or might not be required
6. thing that might or might not be required
7. thing that must be there
8. thing that must be there.

there are 15 permutations of the things that might or might not be required, but the numbering MUST continue in sequence.

i think this might mean i need 15 different sets of nested conditional mergefields, and my brain just isn't up to the task.

can anyone who has done anything like this help me?

Word 2010 and Excel 2010.

I wouldn't worry about it, though. we decided that it would be better to just have ALL THE THINGS.

our arses are covered better if we just mention all 4 of the things that *might* be required. because if they're not, it doesn't do any harm. and if they are, we're covered. no need to worry about mistakes. Big Grin

haha, i tried all that official help stuff. which is why i wound up here. :P

we had just reached the conclusion that it would be quicker and easier to insert the relevant bits individually, when we checked with someone who knows more about the legal side and had it confirmed that we don't even need to do that. cue 76 documents with only 2 conditional mergefields, not 517.

Anybody know a good place on the Internets to buy a computer power supply...?

Specifically Part Number 5188-2622
Part Description 250-watt (max) power supply (Zinfandel), Bestec ATX-250-12V)

I found one on a site I have never shopped from before called OutletPC for $32.98 with $5.00 shipping.

Amazon is a little over $50 thru a reseller....

Well, I'm thinking this is non-OEM replacement from what I gather.

Bestec ATX supply

I first thought 'must be a custom build', then I saw the thing, and I'm thinking this is a replacement, right? It's a standard size and not terribly impressive. You can use pretty much any standard ATX power supply that fits in your case and do just as well if not better, and if part of your problem is that the thing keeps dying on you after you got a new fancy video card, that's because you probably want something bigger.

(more Watts, not physically bigger) Smile

What he said, Lan. If it is an ATX power supply, any one will do and you do not need to keep the same model/spec. Tbh, I haven't seen a 250 watt PS in quite some time as it is just as cheap to go to a higher power output.
If this isn't a case of your PS dying, and you are getting brownouts or crashes, then by all means upgrade to a higher watt.

Sorry for the late thank you but...
Thank You

After trying to learn up on efficiency ratings, rails, hard-wired cabling, versus modular cabling and fan location I wussed out and got the exact same power supply.
My reasoning is that the computer is not long for this world and I did not want to rock the boat.
So far so good. Computer is running much much better. Smile

Logging onto Gmail from Chrome results in a new-tab redirect to spam. Not happening in Firefox.

Tried a couple of quick things (clear cookies, cache, history) and it still occurs... blocking the spam site works, but if i try gmail/chrome again a i get a new-tab redirect to another spam ad site

These ads appear to be safe, no adult stuff, but still... who the F would buy virus protection from a company that uses spam/malware tactics? Mad

Update: it's happening on Linux Mint, not Windows 10, so It's either isolated to the OS or just the Linux computer? 8,000 AV scans coming up...

AV scans clean, so it's code infiltrating my Linux Mint version of Google Chrome, which is updated to it's highest version.

Hard Solution: figure out which IP address is causing the redirect and block it wherever Linux keeps it's hosts file. I'm not a fan of tinkering with Linux at the Terminal level. I'd much rather use the 'just works' desktops of Linux Ubuntu/Mint and keep my sanity.

Solution of Fury: Uninstall Chrome and use Firefox. Think I might start using Firefox again on Windows, too. Big Grin
