(them) --end them...LINE! (to prompt, to correct; no more; and by a correction to say we end the heart-ache of a really terrible performance) You didn't have to give me the whole thing! I know it!

Minnesota Lynx take the WNBA Championship!

Yes! First championship team here in 20 years.

Cheetahs played our fifth regular season game today, and after surviving a sluggish first half, came alive to make a real competitive second half. Played the Super Stars to a 0-0 tie, giving us a 0-1-4 record with five more games to go.

Tonight we play our first game in the mid-season tourney, so we'll see how the girls do playing two games in one day, and playing in their first ever tourney. We play the team we played to a 0-0 tie last week, so should be a fun, competitive game.

Cheetah update:
Tourney game 1 last night - what a night and day difference from the sluggish game they played in the morning! The girls played with an energy and desire that was at a whole new level for them. Came away with a 0-0 tie, but also came away knowing that they have a new gear to tap into.

They needed it!

Today was tourney game #2, and we were playing our regular season rivals, a team that plays very physical (and borderline dirty), and has a lot of girls that are just physically bigger and intimidating. Well, the Cheetahs, to a girl, tapped back into that new gear they discovered and played the best game I have ever seen them play. We won, 1-0, getting our goal on a penalty kick from a handball in the box. We scored early in the first half, so had a loooong game to hold, but we did it. We kept the pressure on, played awesome defense, and held on (even after a flagrant foul late in the second half) for the win.

Right now I couldn't be a prouder coach. Awesome win, made just that little bit sweeter by who we beat (and that we played our game and didn't fall into theirs).

Mike Brown does the right thing by fans and the team and trades Carson Palmer. I am a bit shocked. The only thing that could over ride Brown's pride is dollar signs. Look like the Raiders were pretty desperate.

I'll be damned. Verlander won the MVP.

I certainly thought he should win it, but I didn't expect the voters to pick a pitcher. I know he only played every 5th game. Fact is the Tigers would not have won the division without him. The Yankees still would've been there without Granderson or Cano. Boston still would've had the chance to choke in September without Ellsbury.

Without Verlander, the Tigers are a .500 team.

SI.com's Rick Reilly had an interesting fact on the value of defense: Tony Romo has lost games this year scoring 24, 30, 34 16 and 13 points. Tim Tebow has won games scoring 18, 17, 17, 16 and 13.
