It's the smell of bleach that really gets me.

I know what you mean. I hate ANY kind of chemical smell. Any kind scented cleaning stuff is even worse.

We used to have an almost-pet spider living between a radiator and the wall. It always made new webs no matter how much I cleaned them. I didn't really mind too much, I think it ate all the other bugs that might've gotten in. I haven't seen the webs there for a while. I guess the spider either got old or didn't like the wintertime.

I am here, people!

And I am aware.

So beware.

And take care.

Listen to Cher.

And shake your derrière.

I'm going to make a cup of coffee. Or maybe two, because it's easier to measure the water and the coffee for two cups in our coffee pot.

My (one-year-old) son has been walking around all day wearing a gold-toned Christmas-light necklace.

So.
There's that.

I miss this place.

Morning guys. Three things today.

Booked an appointment at 8am. You have to actually go into the doctors to book the appointment at 8am as if you phone the line's busy until 9am and then they say there are no more appointments. Crazy system.

Then I had my breasts squished in a machine in a little mobile unit in Sainsburys car park. Nice.

Finally, a few final edits on the newsletter I put together and edit for work. Even though it's my day off. Never mind. It's the part of the job I enjoy (I like the people too).

Lovely little boy you have there GR Smile

What's next?

I should be knitting, but the project has bogged down in boredom and I'm twitching to cast on something else.

House De-Fuglification Update: I have an enormous new window that looks out onto the deck. Now I can watch the hummingbirds. Smile

Dear Lester Zombie, I miss you. Dearest Ceridwen, I miss you so much. Dear Joe 3Heads, I barely got to know you and that is entirely my loss, but you liked a thing I made and so I will love and cherish you forever.

Well, not exactly forever, someday I hope that someone on the planet misses me a bit and thinks of me at odd times and is a bit sad that I'm no longer around.

*hugs*

Oh yes, hugs all round. Life's a beast at times. And at other times it works out just fine.

Maeve! I was thinking about you. Whilst away on vacation, I decided I will learn to crochet as my new hobby and will soon be making my way to a local yarn shop.

Well. who would ever have guessed that it would be over 6 months between posts in here, when we started shift no. 1.

I miss the busy days of the board, but I also understand why things have quietened down so much. But still. So much has changed, and continues to change, with social media etc, and in life generally.

I don't even know what I want to say. But here is my stream of consciousness.

I know what you mean Limertilly. Social media has changed even how we speak with each other online. I think about this place a lot.

I think because here, you knew that the audience was basically only The Tribe (TM) who had found their way here - it wasn't going to be read by ANYONE IN THE WORLD, and that left us to be really honest in our presentation of ourselves. Equally, there's no limit on characters, on here, so we can have a massive outpouring without having to serialise it or anything. And it's not like facebook, even how it used to be, with the constant scrolling and disappearing into the past of statuses. Such a great environment for a talkative and thoughtful bunch of people.

As someone who looked at the void of privacy and nasty marketing things that social media is/was and said, fuck that, i miss this place so much. I was never a frequent poster, but yeah, frequent lurker i guess.

I have found a lovely group on Ravelry that helps to fill the void left by the Board. But... they're not the Board.

In one of the latest threads it started out as a concerted effort to try and find the owner of a scarf found in an airport. After several pages, suddenly there were dick jokes and tomato growing tips. And then pictures of penis peppers. The mods gleefully joined in!

They also cheerfully play with trolls, during arguments they demand that you cite sources, they are affectionate and pervy and political and the span the planet.

It's not the Board, but it helps.
