No donuts in 9 weeks?!?! Eek

My co-worker just went and got one and brought it over to my desk. I told him, "Get behind me Satan!"
okay, more like no thanks, but still -- I said no. It just sounds more dramatic that way

Hehe Big Grin

Worse - no snacks (apart from the odd tinned fruit or something) for 9 weeks.

Last week was bad. My willpower was very weak, but I held the course.

I've been a bit lax in the diet department lately...not horrible but not as aggressive as I have been in the past...at least I'm keeping the portions reasonable

But I'm midway into my 5th week of early morning strength and cardio training...and I can totally tell the difference in my arms and legs....

I just have to not get discouraged that there's no reduction in tummy size yet...but I think it's too soon to see that yet...

just gotta keep it up...forever!

Have you guys ever done a cleanse? They say the average persone has 10 lbs. of digested material just laying around the intestinal track. I don't know about 10 lbs, but I will agree to 3 or 4. It might be a way to get things going in the right direction. I'm doing one right now...

I have also been excersizing, but not as well as Nel. I want to step it up, and hopefully I will. (how passive does that sound?)

Seems like the belly is always the last to go.

A friend of ours just did a cleanse and he did lose about 10 pounds. He was also kinda thin to begin with so it gets me wondering...

BUT! He and his girlfriend (who also did the cleanse) both got the flu shortly after. They reckon it was because their immune system was down. So I dunno. I'm tempted, but I'm also conflicted.

cleansing sounds like bupkiss to be, weight loss from that is probably more due to starvation reduced water retention.

Could be bupkiss. I'm doing it right now and it doesn't involve eating less, although they say to avoid sugar and alcohol and stuff because it puts toxins right back into your system. Plus you have to drink tons of water to get the stuff flowing out.

I can see where you could get sick afterwards, but its never happened to me before.

If you think of all the cheese and meat and stuff a person eats its easy to imagine that some of the material can build up in the twists and turns of the intestines.

The one I'm taking has a fiber packet you mix with h20 in the morning (totally green) and a pill you take morning and night. Its got no laxatives but it has tons of grasses and spirolina - all of that green stuff.

Cleansing is good coz it gives your body a 'fresh start', so to speak. It gets rid of stuff, not just toxins, though, so you have to be careful and drink water and take vitamins and stuff.
You'll lose weight but it's not a 'real' weight loss -ie, your body hasn't lost any stored fat. If you are considering a diet coz you want to get rid of flabby bits, cleansing won't help you.

(Never done one, but I supose it's still a good first step coz of the discipline you require and stuff. Then again, just going on a standard diet -loads of veg and fresh fruit, some meat and fish, a little bread and cereals, tiny amounts of fat and no sweets- will do the same just fine.)

EDIT: Forgot to add, there's a reason why there's a lot of undigested stuff ionside you -the body stores it for later. So, even if you do a cleansing, after a while, it will start doing it again.

I haven't done anything lately. You would think I would excersice to help deal with the stress of life.

Does anyone have an opinion on joining a gym?

had an average week last week, but was inspired by Scoundrel to turn it around for this week. Weight holding at 138, 2 lbs lost. I think the cleanse helped me because I feel much more energized. Been excersizing but need to get it up to speed.

I think its fun to join a gym. Its good because you are away from the fridge and tv. Plus its good to see what others are doing. Also they have all those machines that you don't have at home. I think the only trick is to make sure you start going regularly. Ooh, plus they often have pools or saunas/

I'm seriously considering joining for the pool. With my back issues, free weights are bad, and I just don't have room in my house for a stationary bike (which is also very good).

The one thing I don't want is to get locked into a two year agreement.

Swimming is great. I remember back in school I took alot of sports classes, and I noticed that the girls on the swim team had the best shapes of all of the female athletes. Its like they were strong and toned but they still had some flesh on them - they weren't twigs.

Swimming's great, LadyK, and a good reason to join the gym. It's a very soothing way to exercise.

Hang in there, DM. It's a new day.

So i've started an "insulin resistant" type diet. No refined carbs or sugars.

I'm having the freakin' shakes.

Wow, thanks Lady K, you reminded me that we have donuts in the office. So . . . should I eat an old fashioned, a chocolate glazed, or a sugar glazed?
