I just saw the film today. I loved it, especially how they tip their hats off at the ending scene (won't spoil it but will say there is a lot of water from on high).

Saw what you will about the recent movie series with Robert Downy Jr. but I love the new film series with him and Jude Law as Watson.

I think they both compliment each other rather well both as actors and as their portrayal of the characters.

Then you have Jared Harris playing Moriarty soooo well. I was a little skeptical if the actor and the character would work well in the film or this version anyway, then by the end you can see he is perfect on both parts.....I hope I'm making sense cause it is hard to articulate my thoughts on this.

Bottom line is, I like this version of Moriarty and the film as a whole. That works much better I think. Nice and simple.

Oh, it was so much fun! I managed to still knit while watching it, but I was supposed to be tracking how many rows I did and I totally forgot. And this pattern makes it hard to count them.

That hat! Wearing the sheet! *snerk*

It did seem a bit choppy or rushed or something, compared to just the puzzle solving stuff from last season, but, I suppose they may have meant it to be like that, because of her character and all the underlying sexual tension built up from all the characters.

i found the new movie to be horrible. it was like watching a james bond movie set in the 19th century in my opinion.

i like james bond, and i like sherlock holmes but if i went to see the new batman movie and it was about spider-man i'd be pretty pissed off

i just felt that it had none of the feel of the books (except for the nod at the end which ended up being ruined by the very end)...i gave it a resounding "meh" and even found myself falling asleep in the theatre

'You must be' said the Cat 'or you wouldn't have come here'

After being disappointed with most of 2011's BBC drama, this was such a great breath of fresh air. Yes, it required massive suspension of disbelief at times; yes, some of the jokes were perhaps overly cute ("The Speckled Blonde"? "The Geek Interpreter"?); yes, there were extremely cheesy moments, especially at the end... but somehow none of these mattered, because the whole thing was so snappy, witty, sparkling. And then there are moments like the one at the Christmas party, where Sherlock is both brilliant and utterly dumb, or that scene he shared with Mycroft, that humanised the character and showed his flaws and limitations.

So much looking forward to the new episode on Sunday. Here's hoping it's not like S1, where the middle episode was a distinct drop in quality (though still enjoyable enough).

It's likely to be the last episode that falls this season (no pun intended!), if we're basing it on writers.

And, am I the only one amused that Sir Henry Basketville is being played by Being Human's Russell Tovey?

I had to go to IMDB to look up the writer of the next ep and after reading that he wrote The Blind Banker and the Doctor Who ep The Curse of the Black Spot my reaction was 'Oh, how disappointing'.

Hopefully this will be the exception?

Anyway, Hounds of Baskerville was pretty good.

Having just read 'the final problem' in preparation for tonights episode it must be admitted it very much reads as Mr Conan Doyle simply writing "BORED NOW"

Nope. It had its moments, but on a whole there were plot holes I could walk through. I hoped for more, but Thompson unfortnately, in my opinion held true to his normal writing style/talent.
