Welcome to the Group Hug/Circle Jerk/Mutual Admiration Society that is the Sixth Annual Project Thread. I’m going to lay out the rules and such, and then get to the list. Some of you folks will remember this. For others, it is totally new and foreign.

First a brief history - this originally comes from another board where Captain Psyko (a dearly missed boardian MIA, and importer of many fun projects) was a regular, and there it is done every few months, and features over 1000 names (as opposed to our list of 165 this year). The people who undertake this project there spend an enormous amount of time and energy, and I give them all the credit for the creation of The Project™ (which is what it is called over there), and the methods for it’s responsible and effective execution.

Many years ago in May, The Captain imported The Project to the Worlds End. It was a huge success and spawned a massive thread of wondrous boardlove. Since then The Captain has acquired many other claims on his time and he kindly gave Smaug permission to bring it back in his absence. It has been successfully repeated about this time when we get time to every year since. So this year -as Smaug has been heaped with extra work in her new bossy role and with homework piling up- she was kind enough to support me pulling this together. With the valued help of herself and Giabow (thank you *hugs*) it’s back, under my wings/fins.

In essence, the project is exactly what you see here. A list of names, culled from a list that began with the criteria of being an active poster and having a minimum post count of about 15 posts. The original list was shortened on the basis of the poster not being a gameplayer, having posted in the last few months and -when all else fails- being a recognizable World's End poster to Smaug, myself and a few other collaborators.

If your name is not on here there is no offence intended. If you have a very low post count, or primarily frequent the other boards, then those of us who are Worlds Enders might simply have not seen enough of you. We've been extremely heartless in culling the list this year, as we believe it'll get to be too time-consuming otherwise. Despite our best efforts it's possible that a name is missing that deserves to be on there. If so, send me or Smaug a PM. Furthermore, some names may have slipped in, in spite of them having posted infrequently. Do not feel bad if you do not know every name on the list'

Now, the second half of The Projectâ„¢ falls to you people.

You see all these names here? All of these people?

Say something nice about them, it doesn't matter if it's trite, or if you're new. If you have something nice to say: say it. The posters who put in the effort every year to say something in the Project, really keep this Great Tradition running. It doesn’t have to be much: it means a lot to people to be mentioned, even if it's just an "i like you". If you don’t know a poster, or simply don’t know what you would say about them, skip their name, or, if you like, flag the ones you know, but can’t say something about w/ some sort of code. A * or a + or somesuch.
There really is only one cardinal rule: NOTHING NEGATIVE IS TO BE SAID IN THIS THREAD. THE MODS WILL PLEASE DELETE ANY POST WITH NEGATIVE COMMENTS IN THE PROJECTâ„¢. DOING SO IS AN INSULT TO THE COMMUNITY SPIRIT THAT WILL MAKE THIS POSSIBLE.

We say enough nasty things to each other every day. This is a thread for the nice things to come out.
Feel free to break up your replies i.e. A-G, H-O, P-Z or something if you don’t have time to do them all at once - and rather than jacking this thread please please don’t reply to things said about you in this thread, take your thank yous or comments to THIS THREAD, in order to keep this one easy to read - for now at least.

Lastly, for those of you who don’t receive many comments... Do NOT assume it’s because no-one has anything NICE to say - the more likely answer is that people don't know WHAT to say - we don’t know you well enough for whatever reason... Fortunately, there’s a solution - Get out there, and POST POST POST! Make yourself known, get to know us, and really make yourself part of the community ~ that’s one of the things that got Smaug posting. Believe it or not, very few people knew our Smaugie in the first project !…. Maybe, this time next year, you'll have plenty of comments!

Punkyfins fins..*major major heartfelt hugs* I try to be the strong one on the board and in IM, the cheerful nice (if a little bit mean sometimes) one who is there for her friends through goodtimes and bad. Domitella: You are like the sister I never had. I can’t decide whether you would be the big sister (oi! You lot, i don’t want no jokes, ya hear? *looks especially hard at Snazz*) because you have done way more badass things than me in your past and continue to do so now. And you have the most excellent swearing phrases and generally sound far more posh and intelligent. And I know Martin lives inside your rage and he’s fucking cool. So you must be the big sister. Then again, you are younger and I do tease you and call you adorable (‘cause you are) but I know you can take it ‘cause yer awesome and tough and kick ass. We’re kind of a lot of alike, can seemingly move random places without pause, me from Canada and you to the great North of England (although Smaugy will probably disagree on that terminology). Although, we couldn’t actually be sisters ‘cause then we’d fight all the time (if we were proper sisters) so I’m much happier that you’ve become a most excellent friend. Someone who is up for adventure, drinking, and understands why Crazy Paul is just so much fun. You are just proper cool and ace.

Hive: I am glad you returned from your absence earlier, I was afraid the board had lost a bit of its sparkle. You are an exceptional individual. You are fun, intelligent, informed, full of humour and just have a zest and vitality about you. I enjoy every time we get to hang out (and I still owe you £20 from the last time we did!) I really have to be less of a lazy ass and try to get myself to your end of the city sometime (or to Kew!) You are certainly one of the people I look up to most on this wee batch of webspace. I think it would be freaking cool to do an East Coast road trip tour of Canada with you.

Psi: I think you are one of the most intelligent boardies...hell....people I know in my life. Yet its just there, just a part of you, nothing ostentatious or upfront about it. Just there, for us to go ‘Wow’ at and goggle at the size of your brain. You have this presence of life and energy and things to do about you, always excited. About everything, from work to board stuff to random conversations. I would consider it quite a loss, that even when I move away from here, that we’d lose contact, because my life would have lost a very cool and important friend. My sincerest wish is for you to find all the happiness, that I think you deserve.

Halucinagenia: *snicker* you are going to be my sister in law! How strange. But really cool. I am glad Danny boy and you are together. I’m hoping you will like Canada better than London. But there is much more space and much less people! You have an adventurous spirit, not many people will shift around the world like you, seriously, the other side of the world! Different climates, cultures (banking sytems...) and on your own! You have determination and tonnes of character, sense of self and purpose. You always should remember that.

DM: DUDE! We be fucking scholars again! Maybe we’ll have class on the same day so we can get a pint and bitch about readings and course work like proper students. We can teach all those people in our course, just who knows what and rock Birkbeck like it ain’t never been rocked before. Nattie: You were an absolute pleasure to meet and spend time with. You have an ace sense of humour and just general vitality of spirit. I loved your crazy stories which made me simultaneoulsy want to stay as far as I could from Tennessee but also come visit. You are sassy and care free, and its nice to know that there is one of you in the world.

BeeZee: Dude. You are the most hardworking yet laid back chick in the universe. You just take more and more on and we all know its out of love the Son and Heir and to be the free and rockin’ miss that the universe should let you be. I wish you didn’t have to work as hard and have more time to chill and read and do whatever you’d like to do with some mythical thing called “free time”. I’m so pleased that you got to rock out to Chicago and meet up with some of the finest people in the world. We boardies got to stick together and support each other. ‘Cause some people may say its only the intarwebs, but you know we’ll be here for hugs and a support system that you can rely on anytime. We love you, you are a board institution, and never leave us ‘cause life just wouldn’t be the same without you. Draggin' my travellin' ass back to Minneapolis is a top priority.

Aitapata: you have this enigmatic cool about you. Even though you are so open an honest and i feel i know lots about you, you are all still myesterious in your enclave of Florida. I think you singularly raise the level of cool from my perception of Snowbirds retiring and converting star bucks in into Tim Hortons. I have NO idea how you knit so much. I imagine you, Maeve and Giabow meeting up in warehouses full of wool, in shades and synthetic leather managing the flow of wool in the east coast. But then I have a strange mind but with you being so enigmatically cool, this is where it strays. Those who have met you are very lucky ideed.

Al-Aura: I feel you add so much glamour to our wee community. Drama and flair, singing, you name it. If we had a yearbook, I’d vote you most likely to win a Tony (however you spell it) or an Oscar or to grace the cover of vogue or Vanity fair. If one day you are super famous, I promise not to sell your posts to the Sun

Babylon the Bride: I think if I had a choice to be a different boardie for a day, I’d choose to be you. Rockin’ and Rollin’ your way through Austria, writing neat things and being super intelligent and painting (i never could do that). It would be interesting. (And my German would be SO much better). You are not just interesting, you are intriguing. You would make my list of boardies to appear on Time Magazine’s person of the year. I’m so happy to have met you, not once but twice! And hope to visit you again before I leave this continent. Its people like you that just make me realize how awesome this board is, and how each new person bring their own special flavour to our community.

Cobalt: Man. DUDE. Fuckin’ U of T. We were DE-nied of superawesome literary superhero status. The Universe knew, man, it KNEW that we would cause a revolution of unknown proportions, possibly send humanity reeling into depths of despair or raise us to heights of Bill and Ted. The Leafs would have one the cup multiple times, we’d get honorary jereseys and have box seats for Game Seven OT versus whoever they would ultimately triumph against. We’d write something for the paper or CBC so stirring and moving it would be put in the hockey hall of fame. Its true! We’d overthrow the notions of Foucault and Derrida and start a clothing company called F%*K Foucault and we’d become moguls of the fashion and intellectual worlds. There’s still time man, there is still time..the world just isn’t ready yet. Keep honing your already prolific superliterary skills for heros must be patient and wait for the right moment. *hugs* dude. You will always be awesome in my books.

Smaug: there are certain people that come into my life, that i feel really lucky to talk to on a daily basis. From the beginning, you have been one of those people on the board that have really made it feel more like a friend’s living room, to come, have a chat, laugh, bitch, cry, whatever you need at the time. That really make that bit of text come alive and makes it feel whole and like a community. You have that mix of everything; humour, geekery, sharp as hell wit, pulls no punches and does not suffer fools gladly. I’m amazed you take the time to talk to me even when you are so busy. I’m glad we share the same time zone so i’ve been able to talk to you a lot more. You are one of those people that really has become part of the fabric of my every day life, and that if you weren’t there, certain threads would unravel and there would always be a part that wasn’t quite right. So i hope to see you for many years to come because you are too ace to ever go missing for long *hugs*

Marvinmarymac: seriously dude, i wish i could live in Northern Ireland with you. Belfast has become one of my favourite hangouts in the whole entire world. I’ve only seen two continents so far, but i’m fairly certain it’ll continue to reign in the top ten for a long time. And i think this is mainly due to you and your crew. Having us up there, going on crazy adventures in cabins, talking random crap about history. You are massively intelligent, hilarious, totally correct when it comes to outside apparel, and one of the most fun people i know. i’m so glad you are happy for me to come up for my birthday; its going to be a hard autumn with Danny boy gone back to canada, problems with work, starting school and being in this city far from the people i’ve grown up with. But to parahrase from Spaced they say the family of the 20th century will be made up of friends more than family – you have certainly become another sister right along side miss Domitella and being up there with the two of you for my birthday (and Kevin I suppose he’d be a brother...) will always feel like coming home. It helps when I’m sad to know that you will always be excited and happy to see me.

Limertilly: Hon, you know you will always have a special place in my heart. I feverently wish for the universe to stop being so pants and give you happiness and joy. I wish i could transplant some of mine into you so I could hear you laugh loud and with full joy of life. I want to be around when things finally click into place (and they will dammit! Lester Zombie - Your pictures are amazing, sir. Every time I see a new post by you in the picture thread I dash in to see what new images await. My favorite is still the shattered side car mirror. I don't know why, but your pictures just call out to the photographer in me and make me want to get back in the game. Thank you for inspiring me.

Maeve - I want your brownies. No wait, I'm sure that could be taken the wrong way. Let me try it another way. Just talking to you and reading what you have to say makes me want to try your brownies more than any other dish in the world right now. Because if you put even a fraction of the caring and warmth into your brownies that you do with everything else, then I am sure they will be the most delicious things I have ever tried.
