I can't do this person by person, otherwise I'll actually cry.

But seriously, guys, this place has been a lifeline of normal in a really messy, scary year, and you're all awesome, ok?

*snuggles Board*

You are a Leprechaun. I'm not even sure what you are. Whiskey-soaked reports from your baffling Isle of Ire raise more questions than they answer. Are you a dwarf? Where's your pickax? If you're an elf, why don't you cobble? You'd think with all your gold, you could invest in some land, perhaps a title, and improve your station. Instead, you hide it in meteorologically-determined locations. You're getting killed on inflation, little friend!

-elbell-: The voice of reason! With a generous portion of fun, too.

~nattie~: You have an extraordinary capacity for silliness and boundless energy on the board. I've always wondered what you're like in person. After seeing the weva pictures I'm now also struck by your extraordinary beauty.

aisha: You know what you said about not turning out well on pictures? I think that if you ignore the people who tell you to smile at the camera, you have the kind of face the camera falls in love with. That angle of cheekbones, the clearly defined shapes and the eyes are something that's maybe not easy to take pictures of but very rewarding for the photographer: Smile

aitapata: I've always enjoyed those moments of extreme silliness and good humour you have. The best thing about them (apart from making a lot of people laugh, which is what the world needs) is the sharp mind they're indicative of.

Al-Aura: Do I have to cross the Atlantic again so I can get to meet you? Smile You have the kind of grace I want to see and hear and experience in person.

Apathy: You're one of those boardies who joined and in a short time became one of the pillars of the board. You shape and define the threads through the way you are, and the way you are is funny and warmhearted and kind. I'm glad you're here!

Ava: You posted artwork of yours once and I didn't comment on it, which in hindsight is a pity. It was a picture that inspires discussion, the kind of discussion that spirals out into the early hours of morning. It looked liked it had a story to it. I'd like to see more of your artwork, if you've got some to show.

Bean: I'll never forget how you scoured town for a christmas card! You've always struck me as a particularly sweet person. I hope the man-troubles are past!

Black Jacque: There's this advertising campaign going on here at the moment that totally reminded me of you (and I drive past this every morning): Not sure if this is work safe. Anyway, I thought you might like this picture; I did.

Bucephalus:
Monocled rodent!
Pass by my house, I'll let you
Nibble my cookie.
Razz

CancerDusk: You're sweet. Smile I hope things are going well with you.

Capt. Crash: Um...I wish you a better job!

Caspian: I always imagine you with a whole family of clowns + baby clown and a domino wearing cat with a carnival mask. Big Grin Okay, that's not much of a compliment, but it IS funny.

Cassiopeia: Hey honey. You haven't posted in a while. Why you gone? How's it going?

Cavenagh: Dude, you make even cabbage sexy!

Ceridwen: You are the Fairy Godmother of Fred. Big Grin You have an infectuous laugh and you leave a trail of fun posts across the board.

Chomiji: I'm still sorry it didn't work out! Maybe one day when we've got easier schedules.

Circus: I confess I'm a bit intimidated by you but suspect you would find that baffling, the kind of thing people often say and you wish they wouldn't. I think that apart from your clarity of thought and expression that are often mentioned and are unparalleled on this board, you strike me as someone who would be the best kind of friend; You seem so straightforward, honest, shrewd and once you are convinced, very loyal. I don't often comment on your blog, but I always read what you have to say and I've always been immensely pleased whenever you posted on mine!

cloverheart: You're the kind of person who is instantly warm and makes people feel included even while you are arguing with them. You're the real thing, not just a friendly voice, but direct and very much yourself. I can't imagine a single person who wouldn't like you. Smile

Cobalt: I'm happy when you're happy. Smile And you deserve every last bit of happy, it's been on its way to you for a long time! I wish I could think of something more poetic or important to say, but really, you're simply a very good friend - one of the longest friendships I've had here, and one I've always felt that much richer for. Sometimes people become so important to you that you need to know they're there just to feel like the world is a safe place. You're one of those people. Even when we don't speak it makes me happy that you are there on the other side of the globe, puttering away. It makes me feel that at least in some ways things are the way they should be.

I prefer to live in a country that's small, and old, and where no one would ever have the NERVE to wear a cape in public, whether they could leap tall buildings in a single bound or not.

trolls are like pigeons..keep feeding them and they keep coming back and shitting in your street.

Okay, folks, I get a few of these done, and then my entries start reading like yearbook notes; so I'm only halfway through the list, and I've deleted a lot of people who I don't know that well. It's nothing personal - some of you just don't post to the threads I read, and some of you just need to post more, period. So if you're not on this list... talk to me more!

And here's A to (part of) M:

-elbell-: I love the Marco Polo thread (though never post to it for some reason) and watching you play in there is a blast. Your posts in general are very well thought out and make it clear that you care about others.
~nattie~: I'm so glad I got to meet you! I know you hate hearing it, but you're cute as a button (though it was so weird to see you in person - in my imagination you're always lobbing water balloons at Furious and he wasn't there, so I got a little disoriented). You're just good company, in person and online.
aisha: I love your avatar, and from your pictures you look like someone I'd love to hang out with. But I think I'd be intimidated because you're much, much cooler than I am.
aitapata: I'm proud you're my friend, you're so quick-witted and funny and good-natured, I feel like a champ for being able to keep up with you half the time. You make life way more interesting. You're my favorite imaginary neighbor. Can you imagine the shenanigans we'd get up to if you lived down the block instead of across the country? I'd be dragging you out of your shell all the time to go on adventures, though since you're a Cancerian, I'd probably get annoying. Smile But you'd love me anyway.
Al-Aura: You are totally Alaurable. Your adorableness has leveled up past simple adorability. You're also one of the funniest twisted humorist posters out there. How can such charm co-exist with such depraved humor? Beats the heck out of me. But I remember being just flabbergasted at the end of the first Halloween game to find out who your sock puppet was, and you still surprise me sometimes for all that.
Alinda, the lost girl in long stockings: Lost girl - come back and post more!
Animalin: You've been around for a while, and though you haven't posted much, your posts have such depth and honesty I go out of my way to find them. You're strength inspires me.
Apathy: I love cookies. Especially witty cookies like you.
Ava: This might sound weird, but you strike me as someone who has an especially deep wellspring of love for the people she cares about. I can't point to one post that makes me think that, but the combined whole just shows a very caring person.

b: I miss your posts. I know you're crazy busy, but when your life calms down a little, we'll all still be around and we'll be happy to see you.
Babylon the Bride: I think you inspire everyone who knows you well to be a better person, because you're so committed to being the best you that you can be. I think that drive has had a really cool side effect, too. It's what gives you so much personality - and by that I don't mean charisma (though you've got charisma). I mean you're just more yourself on every level than most people.

BeeZee: If you were a drink, you'd be a Mojito, because you're sweet, but crisp and refreshing. (No, I don't know why I'm comparing you to a drink). When I grow up, I hope to have half your ability to deal with shit. Our points of similarity make me hope this happens someday.
Black Jacque: You're an odd leopard, but I like you. You bring an interesting perspective to this board, and your comments on how people interact always fascinate me.
Bucephalus: I like pistachios, and yet I'd give you all my pistachios if you asked. You should find a country that equals your might, for Macedonia... I mean, Canada is too little for thee.
CancerDusk: You know, you've got this look about you like the world is your own private joke, and you're being very good natured about it. I like that about you, that you seem to see the humor in everything, including yourself.
Cassiopeia: I've never really gotten to talk to you, but from your posts you seem so level-headed and capable, totally at odds with your bleeding fingertips. I like you, and Thirith was a smart man to fall in love with you.
Cavenagh: You positively leak creativity, Mr. Cav, probably because your treat it with the seriousness and lightheartedness it deserves. And you're terribly witty and fun. I like you lots and hope you get as much back from life as you're giving the rest of us living it with you.
Ceridwen: You just bring a ray of sunshine and laughter with you whenever you're on the board. You're one of the people I really hope I get to meet someday.
Chomiji: Cho Mama! Clearly, you did a great job with your little girl. And clearly, you need to post more often! I miss your well-thought-out comments in the discussions on what's going on in the world. You have great insight into how people think.
Circus: I like you lots. Smile I hope you're very happy living across the street from Gina. I'm glad to see the WE Apartment complex taking place in some way shape or form. I'm just waiting for Murphy to show up and ask you for nails.
cloverheart: You were the first poster to really make an impression on me. I'm so glad that over the time I've gotten to post on this board with you, you've made such big strides in your life and career. I envy you living in Scotland.
Cobalt: Your throw-away posts are hilarious, and when you sit down to explain something earnestly, I seriously sit up and pay attention. Your sig might warn us to not take you personally, but I always take you seriously. You're one of the most thought-provoking posters on here.
Crow Girl: you're spiffy. I don't know you that well, but what I do know has left a great impression. And your pets are adorable (Hooligan included).
Cyan Sunday: You seem to swing by a few times a year, and always leave us wanting more. I miss seeing you around regularly. Like Scaught and Eden's Echo, I think of you as part of an old crowd that is still right at home whenever you're by.
D M: I wish you had a clue how interesting and fun you are. You have a great personality. I'm wondering if it's a British thing, because I think much the same about Limertilly.
Dan Guy: I'm not sure if you're the one who made the Neil Gaiman Oracle - if you are, thank you. You'd be horrified by how often I get that thing to make my decisions for me.
danyellia: You're so levelheaded and down-to-earth. I'm so glad you and Ivan have found so much joy in each other.
daysleeper[chickie]: You've got a baby! I knew you before you were married! No matter how many people that happens to it always induces exclamation points in me. Smile You've got such a big heart and such a wild imagination, I hope you're able to keep posting at least sporadically to share your new life with your friends.
del74: Leader of the Sparkly Hair Brigade, you know I think you're wonderful. You impress me all the time with how much love your heart can hold. I hope you get just as much happiness out of it as you deserve (and that's a lot of happiness. A lot a lot a lot).
denver: You seem so cool and mysterious - now more than ever, since you're posting less. I'd like to get to know you better, but I suspect that may not happen until I meet you in person, given how often we post in the same threads. Darn oceans getting in the way of me meeting boardies.
digitalprimate: I'm so impressed by your posts in the "letters you're never going to send" thread - dude, you're a poet. And your kid is adorable. I'm still trying to think up something shockingly clever for the "top tens lists" thread.
Domitella: Domi, on the board you're like a whirlwind of energy, and when I met you in person, I was expecting someone much more... hyperactive. I actually feel much better now that I know you were jetlagged. :P Even though you were tired, you were still a blast in person. My best friend from law school was a petite flower, and she always used to say that when she got annoyed about that, she'd sing "I'm bigger than my body gives me credit for" to herself. And she was, and so are you. Also, thanks for not kicking Tongster's shins in.
Dweller in Darkness: Dweller, someday when I take over the world, I'm putting you in charge of basically all of it. There's no better man for the job.

El Leprechaun: What a big heart you have.
Eldi: You know, in some ways everyone in the world is the same, when you look into their hearts everyone is hurting in some way. I think that your writing is on its way to touching that universal pain (it seems to be a theme of yours, characters in pain and how they deal with it, and the amount of control they have over it). When it does, you're going to help a lot of people.
elizabethanne: You and Merlin give me so much hope.
Emerald: Green girl, you must have a beautiful mama to raise such a wonderful lady. Thank you for the card, you're an excellent artist.
escher: New Dad! New Dad! If you read my post about your wifey, all the same applies to you. I wish you so much happiness. Your son is so lovely.

Fash!onpol!ce: Lady, I've seen the stocking thread on the WGB, and you've got some great legs. I'm glad DP got you to come over to visit with us sometimes.
FatOigeon: Gal, you're terribly witty. You're one of the posters whose stuff I read and think "oh, man. I wish I'd said that." really, really frequently. The thing is, you're such a tease about the pictures. What the heck do you look like?
fionchadd: You seem like a dear, but I think you started posting more around the time that I started posting less. This makes me sad.
Flapper: I hope everything is going well for you, I haven't seen you around much. You still have one of my favorite names and avatars.
fluffyllama: Thank you for being my bridesmaid! You're an awesome friend, and I know you're always there for me to vent to on the infrequent occasions (HAH!) that I'm annoyed about something, or if I just want to chat at work. Your sense of fun and your playfulness with language makes talking to you a blast, and I'm glad you're my friend. But you should blog more.
fluffyllama's BIG BROTHER: You sent my Tongster lots of dolls. They're now flanking our TV. Thank you? (Actually, I dig them, they're really cute, and they made Tongster so happy. "Honey, this one spends most of her time in the Hospital! And this robot isn't to scale with the other big ones. It's more to scale with the minis. Honey, why are you smiling like that? You're making fun of me, aren't you? It's not funny!" Someday he'll probably get me to watch the movies that they're based on).
Froggy: I love your drawings, and you seem like a really fun person. I'd love to spend a day wandering around with you and your Mom, you both seem like you'd be a blast.
Furious: Mr. Fury, I hope that you can kick life in the ass as much as it deserves. You're a great guy, and I'm so happy you're soldering on through some pretty crappy circumstances. Flame On!

Giabow: You make me grin.
GMZoe: You're a blast, Moffie. Though I miss seeing your feet lurking around here, I'm glad that you're getting to spend more time with Bride of Moffie and Moffie Jr. I live in fear of your movie collection.
Gothic Wardrobe: I have a really good impression of you, but for the life of me I can't remember why. Don't you hate when that happens?
Graffalke the Chrono-Illogical Alchemist: You have the luckiest tummy in the world, Mister, and you totally know it. I'm so glad that Masque as someone to appreciate her like she deserves.
Grand Moff Kradlum: Our paths don't cross often, but I like you. If I ever develop a taste for beer, I'll ask your advice on it. Until then, more beer for you?
green-robot: You shine like the sun, robot lady. Your personality beams out of every post you write.

halucinagenia: You're a great friend - I'm loving living vicariously through your and MG's pictures of your travels through Europe. I'm looking forward to doing that for a long time to come.
Hasa: You always have the coolest restroom photos. Or maybe "suave" is a better word. You don't look like a hit man or like you're lurking - you're the only dude I know of who makes a bathroom a fashion statement.
Hive-mind: Another former veggie who didn't live on salads! Hooray for us! You know, your posts are always so interesting, you draw me into threads I wouldn't go in on their own. You always have something insightful to say.
Hooligan: You and Crowgirl are so lucky to have found each other, and someday I'll get to meet you two as a couple. You seem like a person who lives by his principles, which I respect very much. I hope you guys get to Germany soon!

Jena: You know I adore you, you irreverent, clever, honest woman. You laugh in the face of fear (and sometimes of caution) and though I know you're working on picking your battles now, your willingness to face them (all of them, any of them, and enjoy it, too) inspires the hell out of me.
Jocelyn: OOoooohhhh - Foxy lady! *Guitar Chord*
JP: You are dear friend, and if stupid time zones didn't get in the way, I'd talk to you a lot more than I currently do. I'm astonished at how Miss Molly is getting bigger and stronger with every picture, and Rae is just as lovely as when I met her in person. Hopefully we'll meet up again in person soon!
just a girl: Mikka! I'm so sad I didn't get to see you on your brief tour through the USA. I hope you make it back over here soon, because you're so much fun and you have such sparkle.

Lady Jasmine: You've got grace and ambition - you'll make it in theatre!
ladykatza: I hope you're having fun on the Island right now. You're so vibrant and full of life, you give me hope that I can spawn someday and still hold on to my personality, because it's obvious you've managed that. Also, you're hawt.
Lan Martak: Lan, I was so delighted to have lunchtime with you in person, though I wish there'd been fewer people around for it. You're as delightful in person as you are on the board, and I really enjoyed your tee-shirts (I checked out what tee-shirt you wore in the pictures from the days I couldn't be there, too).
Lester Zombie: The day you shaved your beard, my brain almost cracked. I had no idea how attached I was to it in your crazy plunger-wielding, devious camera-hiding restroom photos. You seem pretty cool, but your beard is like a celebrity. I stand in awe of your ability to grow it.
Limertilly: Lady Lime, you're so sweet and good and have such a nice soul, I really want to see everything work out for you perfectly. Because you seem like someone who would really take the time to appreciate a happy ending and enjoy it every day. "Look!" you'll say "I'm in my happy ending, and I'm happy! And I'm staying happy! Where other people might find creative ways to make themselves miserable, I've found my happy ending and I'm holding onto it with both hands, so HAH!" And since you're willing to work for it, and I'm betting you'll be willing to work to keep it, I have total faith that you'll get it. So HAH to you.

Maeve: You are fun and irreverent and live your life on your own terms, but seem totally unaware of how unusual that is. What's up with that? Whatever the reason is behind it, it makes you humble and even cooler. I like you.
manydjs: Okay, you've been posting for a little while now, and you seem like a neat dude, but all I'm remembering about you is the pic in the cleavage thread. Nice pecs, man.
Marvinmarymac - you're really cute. I've seen the pictures. But your personality is cute, too. I hope you're not one of those people who hate being called cute (but if you are, replace it with "charming and pretty with an endearing quality" instead - somehow cute people rarely object to that, though it's the same as being cute. So there).
Masque - Graf has the luckiest tummy in the world, and you're the reason why. You seem like one of the happiest couples out there, and I'm just so pleased for you that you've got each other.
Matrix Destiny - Ray, you're such a sweetheart, but when your wit comes out, it's laser-sharp. It always shocks me that such a laid-back easygoing guy sometimes comes out with such zingers.
Matt Cable: The lucky groom! I think that you're a lucky bastard to get such an excellent Amy, and such excellent puppies and though stuff stinks at work right now, I've got faith that you'll find an excellent job before too long and you'll have a trifecta of excellence. Because you're a pretty excellent guy.

Well, I know nothing I’ve written is original but time was of the essence (being bumped off the computer frequently - “but it’s for school!”). I hope I have offended nobody but I did try hard (not to that is)

As I’ve said before, I think my brain must work more slowly than everyone else’s – But I’ve a big heart and didn’t want to leave anyone out! My husband is not a frequent computer visitor – apart from sites which help him in his woodwork or computer graphics – and does not understand why I would want to talk to a bunch of guys I have never met, so he doesn’t like it if I spend too much time on here either (I think he’s jealous but he also thinks I am wasting my time). Still, I do it because you are all different and funny and I like you all more and more as time goes on. This is a great board and you are all so intuitive and interesting and clever and I’m looking forward to a WEVA so I can meet some of you one day. Thank you. Here goes:

-elbell- - Is interesting and imaginative - I think - but we have not met yet!

~nattie~ - I love your look – and your hair is wonderful – can I have it please?
On another note, your artwork is beautiful and I see you are intelligent and witty for one so young!

$crooge Merlin mac $norri McDuck – Not had the pleasure but I do hope you are well!

aisha – Hello, you make a great desktop picture and have a bootiful avatar.
aitapata – Such a gorgeous smile and friendly too! You make us newbies feel so very welcome. Thank you (and you love Neil Gaiman nearly as much as I do – hang on a minute … I think maybe that goes with the territory)
Al-Aura – You are a beautiful glamourpuss – and I wish you loads of luck with your acting
Alinda, the lost girl in long stockings – You are kind and sensitive and a very lovely person.
Alix – Hello, how nice to meet you
Animalin- And you too, nice to meet you
Apathy – I find it hard to put your posts to your name – you confuse me as you don’t seem apathetic at all!
APEX- Hello
Ava – Love your photos and sense of humour – and I hope whatever is/was ailing you will head the way you want it to!

b – You are a beautiful mum but I don’t know you very well (is sad)
Babylon the Bride – Beautiful bride and warm genuine person it seems to me – I sense a great deal of fun and silliness from you
Batmanuel - Hello
Bean – Hello old thing – I think you are a fairy – just the avatar thing again!
BeeZee – Hello to you – I don’t know you really but enjoy your posts. Thank you.
Black Jacque – Is funny (in a good way)
Black Wings - Hello
Bucephalus – Love people who love little creatures – your avatar says you do?

CancerDusk – Very pretty (I hope that’s not offensive) – I hope you are happy and enjoying life?
Cappy Meriweather – Hello to you
Capt. Crash – Hello, nice to meet you!
Caspian – You look crazy – like an old boyfriend I had once!
Cassiopeia – I’m really pleased you can pronounce your name now – nice to meet you in the “Dead” thread!
Cavenagh – Is a little scary (in a very funny way) (and I use Baileys as cream for coffee – yum yum – but not morning coffee)
Ceridwen – If you are the lady with the red hair, its beautiful and I expect you are too!
Chomiji – A lovely lady and wonder if we have other things in common than daughters and art 
Circus - Hello
cloverheart – You look as excited to meet Mr Neil as I was! And I always think of you as glamorous and can you teach me to speak Spanish please?
Cobalt – Beautiful colour! But we’ve not met so I can’t speak for the rest of you!
Crazy Jane – Hello to you too
Croaker – Felicitations and salutations
Crow Girl – Pretty lady – I like your name
Cyan Sunday – Hi

D M – I don’t believe you are anything as dark or dork as you make out - when I don’t understand, I just read your posts and it all becomes clear. Thank you drwhoexperto – look forward to some geek meets!
Dan Guy – Has shiny balls? (yet?) You are most helpful and friendly.
Danny Donovan – Hello …
danyellia – Hi there!
daysleeper[chickie] – I don’t know you but you look nice and you have a lovely leetle baby!
del74 – Sparkly del? Your haircut is ace – you are brave to have it cut so short and it looks brilliant.
denver – Hello to you
digitalprimate – Love your artiness
Domina Flamma – Hello
Domitella – Just love this girl – you are so sweet and you loves nature and animals (snap). You remind me of our guinea-pig “Nessie” – she’s a monster who kicks and tries to bite you when you get her out but once you hold her, she’s calm and friendly and chatters to you (Offence taken? Hope not!)
Dragons Bard - Hi
Duckorange – You make me hungry (orange not duck) – where did you go?
duncan s. – Hello to you too
Dweller in Darkness – I love your little handed helpers

El Leprechaun – Love your hat and your ears
Eldi – You have long hair – yum! (Now you say, go away you silly old woman, you are old and married) Oh, and you read Neil’s journal and write to him – like me! (and you get things answered, like me!) Well done
elizabethanne – Hello, nice to meet you (shakes hands)
Emerald – Again, wish I was bold as you at your age. (Love your hair too!) Go for it with the art – it’s beautiful.
Escher – I don’t know you either but you look lovely (Wedding bubbles!)

Fash!onpol!ce – Beautiful wedding – nice to see you!
FatOigeon – Funny, very funny
fionchadd – What a lovely girl – your pics are amazing fion!
Flapper - Hi
Flex Mentallo – You frighten me a little but you are very, very funny
fluffyllama – Hello
fluffyllama's BIG BROTHER – Hello big brother!
Froggy – You are gorgeous – but then I’m biased. I’m so pleased you are here. You have your own sites where you spend most of your time and I’m not really involved in that side of your life so thank you Frog for joining me. Many years of it I hope.
Furious – You make me laugh so much – and I don’t even know if you are a he or a she! (oops)

Giabow – Hello – You seem really sweet (that’s a bit dull but hello anyway!)
GMZoe – You have an absolutely stunning daughter – but does she look like you? Where are you? Are you actually a guy?
Gothic Wardrobe – Haven’t seen your posts much recently but you really make me laugh when you are (here)
Graffalke the Chrono-Illogical Alchemist – You sound interestingly lovely (lucky Masque!) and mucho smarto
Grand Moff Kradlum – Hey, you grand handler of feathery talloned creatures, where have you been – obviously not where I was looking!
green-robot – Sweet and feisty. I wish I was as confident and friendly as you when I was your age.

halucinagenia – I can’t stop thinking you are a hedgehog (something to do with your avatar quote possibly?!) but no – you will soon be a bride – congratulations to you both
Hasa – You are a little scary (probably just the photo!) as your posts are not!
Hive-mind – I really like you – and I know it is because you are friendly and helpful and know how to work a computer – thank you – you are very funny!
Hooligan – Ha, yet another very funny chap that I don’t know but I love reading your posts

Jayelle – Hello to you
jazzcat – Hi to you too!
Jena – You are a very pretty lady
Jocelyn – Thank you for you linky Jocelyn, you’re a lovely lady and congratulations on your wedding – I hope you have many, many years of love and happiness
JP – Hello – boy with short hair!
just a girl – Hi – girl with lovely hair!
Justy – Helllooooo

Lady Jasmine – Beautiful girl
ladykatza – Is pretty lady with charm and wit – funny too!
Lan Martak – You confuse me but are very funny

The Boys
(Because sometimes we have to stick together)

Dark Mark
To my favorite monarchist: when I watch Doctor Who, I like to think that there's a reason a Time Lord is so interested in the British, aside from the mundane explanation that he just happens to be on a British television station. And my rationalization is that he just feels an affinity with the people there. Proud, history-loving, curious, polite even when you're conquering the world (as long as everyone stays in line.) In short, I think he likes people very much like you, because I know that I do. Someday we'll have to have a pint together.

Cobalt
We don't know each other personally that well, and you may not see it, but I often feel a certain kinship with you. We have very different approaches to the world around us, but I've always felt that our differing reactions still come from similar instincts. In any event, I'm always interested in your take on things and value your opinions and respect your efforts to strictly adhere to your principles, even when they baffle me.

Thirith
Being an American in this era, I've often felt a duty to put aside my more moderate instincts to hold up the left flank, because dammit, someone has to do it. But here I have you (and TheBoy, incidentally) outflanking me, which cheers me up a bit, because I'm just too wobbly at heart to change the world. I've always admired your social consciousness and your desire to see the world become a better place.

Lan
There are so many things I like about you, Lan, but the thing I like most is that you're always just you. In you there are no pretenses, no facades. You have no guile about you. You never try to be anything more than you are, and people (my self included) love you dearly for it. And it always gives me courage to just be myself.

Tongster
Fellow cheese hater! On the board, you're like a tazmanian devil unleashed. With porn. Off the board, you're one of the most mature, together people I know. I'd promise to keep your secret, but there I just went and revealed it. In either of your incarnations, you are always a delight.

Chad
You're always fun to be around -- I still mentally append the moniker "Greatest movie ever made" to anything wonderfully bad, like "Smokey and the Bandit 3: Greatest Movie Ever Made!" But what I like most of all about you comes from a million details I've noticed that show that you go to greater lengths than anyone I know to always be respectful and decent to those around you. You take pride in doing the right thing, for to you, the right thing is the only thing. And I admire that.

Mischief
Dude! I don't know if I could ever pack up my life and move to another country, let alone one that starts with the letter Z. You always seem to grasp life with both hands and chug down, unfazed by the aftertaste. You make it all seem so effortless that I'd be incredibly jealous if you weren't such a nice guy.

Psi
I really don't know you well at all, but everyone I've spoken to who has met you has raved about how great you are. And I thought you were brilliant in the Lego interview that got posted awhile back. I certainly hope that one day we'll be at the same WEVA together.

The Absent
(Gone but not forgotten)

GMZoe
I didn't really get into the Board until you were mostly absent from it, so I never really got to know you first hand. But on occasion I have stumbled through old threads and peered at the arguments and ideas trapped there as if in amber. And I've gotten an appreciation for the mark you left on this place. It was wide open back then, and I believe that the grace and consideration and reasonableness with which you always handled yourself did a lot to make this Board become what it is today. Common sense is a misnomer; bad sense is plentiful. To you I think we all owe a debt of gratitude.

Walker
I've seen you in old threads, too, stomping through with (as I imagine you) boots of Destruction. I meant that to sound nicer than it did. Those were the bad old days, the all or nothing days, and while I frequently discount cries that "the Board is changing", well, it already has, in many ways. But you were one of the Originals, and to me your this larger than life figure, and in those rare moments when you do pop in, I'm slightly in awe.

Larry McWhiskeyson
I miss you, you old so and so. You were hands down the oddest boardie, but you did it with such style and panache. You were one of the fun ones, always a surprise, and I hope whatever you're up to these days that the people around you appreciate what an artisan of the absurd they have amongst them.

I wanted to do this this year, but I just don't think it's going to get done. There's just too much going on in life, at home and work, to do a proper job of it, and The Project is not something one should do half-assed.

So, first I'm sorry that I won't be able to tell you all individually what you mean to me. please know that I truly cherish the World's End as my online home, as the place I can go to get away from things, find creativity, and always find friends. Second, know, each of you, that the 1s and 0s that make up your presence on The Board is so much a sum greater than the sum of its parts (or however that goesSmile). Every bit adds to (and rarely subtracts from) the mesh that is The World's End, and I value you all for it, for making it what it is.

I've got some amazing friends here, some wonderful acquaintances, and familiar names that make me smile. Many of you know how I feel about you - I love you, and cherish our friendship. And if you don't know it, well dammit I've been lax in my half of the relationship lately. The rest of you that I pass here and there on The Board, with whom I've exchanged friendly smiles and chit-chat, you add to all the little joys in life, and for that I'm thankful.

Thanks, everyone, for making The World's End a place I enjoy hanging around for lo these past 7 years Smile

(And I know Smaug is going to hate me doing it this way, but I felt it was better than nothing. If I can get to it before it vanishes, I'll see what I can do.)

[edit to add]Smaug just said I can't say "I love you all" but neener to her anyway Razz

I prefer to live in a country that's small, and old, and where no one would ever have the NERVE to wear a cape in public, whether they could leap tall buildings in a single bound or not.

trolls are like pigeons..keep feeding them and they keep coming back and shitting in your street.

there is no deadline.

the thread gets locked when there are too many newbies that it no longer makes any sense to keep it open (often 9 months after it was started).

it does get unsticky'ed however. this happens at some point between 3 to 4 weeks after going up and/or people are no longer posting.

the posting has started dropping now, but there are still people getting theirs done, so it should be unsticky'd soonish, but not quiet yet.

*hugs*

Apologies for my incredible lateness and general absence this year. I've been having a bit of a sucky time of late; I just couldn't motivate myself to write nice things about people.

To everyone not mentioned in person: *grouptacklehug* I love you all very much. Every single nutty one. You make the Board a great place and make me come back. Thank you for keeping me sane(-ish).

Aisha – We haven't really had direct contact yet, but you give off this amazing vibe that just makes me want to be more like you.
Aitapata – Librarians rule, oook! And you rule supremely with an iron knitting needle.
Apathy – Not what it says on the label at all, which is A Very Good Thing.
Ava – Lovely lady with great picture ideas.
Babylon the Bride – If I really have to grow up one day, I wanna grow up to be you. Cause you're an awesome lady. Smile Also, I saw this a while ago and immediately thought of you:

Bean – You're a sweet thing. Smile
BeeZee – You have the greatest insane smile ever (see watermelon-cutting picture).
Bucephalus – I could just squeeze you into itty-bitties, you teensy-weensy cuddly-wuddly itsy-bitsy fuzzy-wuzzy poster-woster! Big Grin
CancerDusk – War Bunnehs ho!
Cavenagh – You manage to amaze me every time. Every post from you is like a little ray of sunshine brightening the gloom.
Cloverheart – Be-ay-you-tiful, girl! Smile
Crow Girl and Hooligan – *bounces* You're coming to Germany! You're coming to Germany! You're coming to Germany! You're coming to Germany! You're coming to Germany! You're coming to Germany! Big Grin I am insanely happy about this, even though Stuttgart is about as far as you can get from Berlin without crossing the border.
D M – You are so much better than you think you are, sweet. *hugs* And we need to talk more. There are so many things I want to discuss with you, face to face preferably. (There might be an opportunity for that in November, actually! More later.)
Domitella – *hugsqueeze* You are the funnest little ball of energy on the planet, and I wuv you for that. It is lovely to see you enjoy your job so much. Keep those quotes coming! Wink
duncan s. – All hail the fearless leader of the War Bunnehs!
Dweller in Darkness – I cower before your intelligence. Coz you're like, real smart 'n stuff. I really wanna see that Dweller and Furi movie review site!
Emerald – A true gem of talent. (Geddit? Emerald? Gem? Heh. I kill myself sometimes.)
FatOigeon – You're on my “need to meet”-pile. Which is an honour. No, really!
Froggy – I want my potential kids to be just as much fun as you. And as talented, of course!
Furious – *bearhugs* You have more strength than anyone I know. Don't let anyone give you any shit, you hear me? Someone tries to screw you, you screw them right back! Also, best movie critic evah!
Giabow - *gi-nourmous hugs* You've been such a tremendous help this past year. Thanks for listening to all my rants about actors and directors. We should really write that How To Handle Sucky Directors advice column! Big Grin
GMZoe - still much missed Elder.
Gothic Wardrobe - I just love your sense of humour. Smile
Graffalke the Chrono-Illogical Alchemist - Is there a wiser or wittier person in the world? I think not!
halucinagenia and Mystery Guest - I'm so very happy for you two! May your wedding be the blast it's already building up to be.
Hive-mind - *hugs* My mom needs to be more like you.
Jocelyn and Tongster - You made the wedding thread, into which I would otherwise not have strolled, so much unexpected fun! In the best possible sense, you two deserve each other. *raises glass* To the quirky couple!
JP - I've grown to like you a *lot* this past year. I especially like that you value dissenting opinions in discussions and don't brush them aside easily - a skill so much rarer than it should be.
just a girl - Miss you!
Lady Jasmine - Day-amn, girl! Those legs, those eyes, that pout - you're a right heartbreaker, you are!
ladykatza - the original catwoman Wink
Lan Martak - Lunch long and prosper, my friend! And here's a reminder of your Elf-man days I found on a lamppost recently:

Lester Zombie - How do you do those bathroom shots? How? HOW? Genius, they are! And so are you.
Limertilly - *hugglebombs* You're beautiful, in mind and body. I truly admire you.
Maeve - *bows* I'm completely useless at knitting and other needlework, so you have my full admiration for your skillfulness.
Marvinmarymac - So much fun! Smile
Masque - I wanna move in with you, just so I can enjoy your fabulous cooking skills every day. Teach me, oh brilliant one!
Matt Cable and TheatreGeek - ah, more marital bliss! I wish you happiness beyond belief, and may you produce a gazillion offspring! Cause we need more people like you.
Mean Old Man - You make me smile a lot. Look: Smile
MeanBatwoman - Quite the Warrior Bunneh! Rawk on! Big Grin
Mischief/Murphy - I admire your sense of adventure and giving. And I'm so glad you made it back in one piece. *hugs*
Motley Hippie - Heh. You're funneh. Big Grin
Munk - A strategic genius. Where would the War Bunnehs be without you? In bits, that's where.
Mythos - Almost too cute to be true. And your shyness makes you even more appealing. I bet there a dozens of girls who swoon over you!
Nel Gurgle - *hugbombs* Sweet and funny and generous and altogether awesome. Yep, that's what you are. Smile
Nyssa - Your presence always puts a smile on my face. Smile
PENELOPEIA - Sender of the most beautiful piece of postcard art I have ever received. You is talented, girl!
pkitty - Make-up artist to the stars, and make-up consultant to the Board. Simply invaluable.
Psi - Probably the most hard-working person I know, yet no scary workaholic. Well done, sir! Smile
Punkyfins - Sorry about my Fred-pestering. It's really surprising just how much work he actually is once you have him. I hope I didn't piss you off too much. *hugs*
remote/Mr. Push - One day, I will finally get around to visiting Scotland. Then I shall invade your town, and whackiness will ensue!
Royko - Another for the "must meet"-pile, cause you're still a bit of a mystery to me. I am intrigued. Wink Also, you are the owner (or, from Astrid's point of view, tin opener) of the Official Greatest Cat in the World.
Seccotine - Bubbly like a Lush bath bomb. I like both very much. Smile
silly punk - Ever notice how nobody can resist liking you? I'd be insanely jealous if you weren't so bloody likeable, you gorgeous syrupy enchantress, you! Wink *hugs* I'm so very happy that you found love with someone as special as Joe. And I miss you loads!
smalltown - I don't think there is a single post by you I haven't enjoyed reading. Now that is some talent! Smile
Smaug - *hugsqueeze* I find it hard to put into words just how important you are to the Board and to myself. I need to do a Britain tour and visit you, so we can have curry and red wine and a nice long chat. And I swear I will finally get to uploading and posting the bulk of the Fred pics after I'm done here!
supersnazz - Joooooooooooooe! Big Grin Looking snazzier than ever since the Great Shave. And again, I'm really happy you and Liz found each other. You're just perfect together.
the madness of queen monk - Wanna meet! Have to meet!
Thirith & His Enormous Tibia - Thank you for more giggly moments than I ever thought possible! Smile
Tismalleen - A-Tisket and A-Tasket, Tismalleen and Tasmalleen, WE and TW - you're always fun to be around!
wanderinginmn - Ivan the Terrible of the War Bunnehs! Fear his buck teeth! Rawr!
Wayfarer - Lambananafinder extraordinaire, and quite the photographer too.
weeble - *hugglepounce* You're my guaranteed upper whenever I'm totally in the dumps. Just reading your name makes me smile. Smile

You are a Player. There are no small parts, only small people, and we suspect that's due to malnutrition endemic to the period. Every night you're a different person, knave or king, man or woman, 875 roles in all. The ones the audience liked got you applause, and the ones they didn't got you pelted rotten vegetables. The theater is a harsh mistress, but you love her dearly. Plus, it beats working for a living!

'But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
'Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: 'we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad.'
'How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice
'You must be' said the Cat 'or you wouldn't have come here'
