I've been having a great weekend with my friend who now lives in Greensboro as he and family are back over here for a week after 6 years away. I'd like to know whether I can be there next year and I recall there was somewhat of a consensus that an '09 WEVA should be East Coast US. Is anyone likely to pick this up, or should we go back round the polling phase to see where it should be.

(That's assuming enough people want one in the first place)

Dragon Con 2009 is the PERFECT WEVA Solution! I have a lot of connections to the convention and the area, so if someone will volunteer to help keep me on track, I will be more than willing to help plan it.

Dragon Con is an event I would love to attend, but combining that with a WEVA, I fear it would detract from one or the other.. or both...

I still hope for a WEVA in Charleston, being that Columbia doesn't have much except a few Blue Sky Scupltures, a few parks, a small zoo, but a very long walking trail...

Charleston is one of the oldest cities on the East Coast.. and has several nice historic sites, beaches, and is really big in the art scene...

I like the idea of Atlanta too.. especially 6 Flags and the waterpark there..

Southern WEVA would be great, but we have to be cautious on when so as not to melt our colder climate boardies... Big Grin

I think that's a good point - also we don't want to just do the one thing at WEVA - one of the best thigns about it is doing lots of random stuff.

I actually like the idea of a WEVA in Charleston, but I don't know much about the area. As for Dragon Con, its more fun with lots of people, but I can see that being an issue.

April or October are the best times for The South.

I can make no predictions on my ability to travel next year. I would like to attend a WEVA though.

Same here.

You are a Leprechaun. I'm not even sure what you are. Whiskey-soaked reports from your baffling Isle of Ire raise more questions than they answer. Are you a dwarf? Where's your pickax? If you're an elf, why don't you cobble? You'd think with all your gold, you could invest in some land, perhaps a title, and improve your station. Instead, you hide it in meteorologically-determined locations. You're getting killed on inflation, little friend!

Probably no me, either. It looks like my main meat-up next year will be with anyone who wants to go to the San Diego ComicCon.

I know Charleston, and April is off season so it is cheaper.. it is also BEAUUuuutiful around that time of year... There are walking tours, carriage and bus tours too.. but tell ya the truth, the walking and carriage tours are best.. I love the "gateway" walks.. it it a walking "tour" that goes through all the cemetaries in Charleston, Starting at the Lutheran and Unitarian churches on Archdale.. and winding through the oldest parts of Charleston... there are shops.. especially old book stors (I hope Boomer's is still there).. there are also historic houses and the Battery Park is great.. there is also a great party scene (all around King Street)... There is something for everyone.. Spoleto is May 22 - June 7th too for those who want the full Arts experience..
the only bummer part is that it's too far from my kitchen for me to cook for y'all.. but there are serveral GREAT restaurants there.. SC is also one of the cheapest places to go price-wise Big Grin
