I don't think anyone has taken the reigns on this yet.

I believe that if the next meet is in the US, the Northeast or the South is up (since we've done Southwest and Northwest). In the past we've talked about Washington DC, New Orleans, or Charleston.

I have no idea if a European board meet is happening next year, I think at one point people talked about going US/Europe/US/Europe on alternating years?

It'd be awesome if I could schedule a training to happen in the general vicinity at the same general time - I could have work pay for the travel? (though not roomage Frown )

Otherwise, I don't know - I would love to go to either Comic Con or Dragon Con, but solo travel (aside from the aforementioned New England) would probably be prohibitive.

actually, sweets, I'm not just targeting you.. Big Grin

I have a pretty good idea on what peaks the interest of many of the boardies.. merely from observation.. Big Grin

and I was mentioning much of what I like to do.. I didn't even mention the oldest live oak on the east coast.. the Angel Oak.. or Pauley's Island, or Fort Sumter,Foley Beach.. any of the various alternative places... or any number of the reportedly haunted areas (there is a Ghost Tour in October btw)..

Absolutely.
We can do impromptu busking & wait for people to pay us to sing/stop singing (delete as applicable) !

@ Jocelyn: I also remember the idea of alternating meets between Europe & American being mentioned, but not if anything was decided upon. Ampsterdam might be a good location, in that case.

I was figuring that the triple whammy of exchange rate, rubbish annual leave allowances and sheer numbers of boardies it is better to have 2:1 North America:Europe

I'll go anywhere, but I did think DC was a good idea. I've been once but no way have I even scratched the surface of stuff to do there.

D.C. is nice during cherry blossom time (April)...

Decent weather, prettiness, museums, monuments, stores...

Actually DC was the number 2 last year, so I bet it will take it if we vote.

I'm likely to be in the broke academics group too, but if I were ever lucky enough to go, I'd push for one with some interesting history/civil war things, as I've been reading quite a bit about it lately.

This would probably mean somewhere near Washington DC or in Virginia, I guess?

*wishes he could go and melt into an accenty puddle*

"The other night I dreamed that King George VI was dead, and that Helen Hardinge had somehow or other got herself proclaimed Queen of England, and that I was detailed to go and tell her that it wouldn't do at all; and when I did this, all she said was, 'You see, I am really Queen Mary,' and I said, 'Oh very well' - words to that effect, and woke up.

Last night I dreamed that Eisenhower came to stay with us, and he insisted on being put to sleep in the dog kennel, with a collar and chain about his neck."
