Prawns with chocolate sauce? I remember Gordon Ramsay saying some choice words about that combination... Most of them were variations on the theme of "bleagh".

I guess, as always, it's a matter of taste. I have had mexican chicken with spicy chocolate sauce before, and it was delicious! But since I don't like prawns anyway, I'll forgo this one.

fun with potatos!

i made curry Big Grin

firstly, chop things. (the potatoes are here for prosperity)

fry the onions with a fuckton of spices (i used turmeric, coriander (seed not fresh), fresh ginger, fresh chillis, and because i wasn't at home with my spice-rack, garam masala and curry powder. if i'd been at home i would have also used fenugreek and mustard seed)

add chopped fresh tomatoes and tomato puree, and cook for a long time until it reduces to the consistency you want.

in another pan, fry the mainstay of your curry. i used chicken and okra.when cooked, add to the sauce.

serve with vodka, for fun happenings.

Yes, it's called molé (pronounced moh-lay). It's a fairly standard sauce in Mexican cuisine.

I made the butternut squash risotto using this thread tonight! Okay, I didn't use onion, and I did add fresh sage, and I didn't have parmesan, but I did have some rosemary salt and a leetle tiny bit of mature cheddar, but Domi's recipe provided the structure.

Ah yes, I keep forgetting what it's called. Thanks! Smile

Fion - I had never heard of fenugreek being used in cooking, only in medicine. I actually had to google and then wiki it to find out what it's called in German: Bockshornklee (buck's horn clover). German Wiki says it's also known as Kuhhornklee (cow's horn clover), Ziegenhorn (goat's horn), Hirschwundkraut (hart wound wort), Rehkörner (doe corn), feine Grete (fine Gretel, phonetically from Fenugreek), Filigrazie (blend of filigree+grace, phonetically from Fenugreek), Schöne Margreth (Beautiful Margret), Siebenzeiten (seven times/seasons/ages), Stundenkraut (hours wort) and Philosophenklee (philosopher's clover).

Big Grin I love language!

I've been hankering to try some home-made stuffed pasta, or maybe canneloni to save all the pasta-dough-making.. Anyone else interested in that?

It seems pretty energy intensive, mind. The kind of meal that could take 3 hours to make and 15 minutes to eat. But I'd still like to try.

but, I still dunno what's in a cream tea. I'm assuming it's not just cream in a cuppa tea.
