No, Furious, it's not about *that*! :P

Has anyone here ever tried the hundred pushups training programme or anything similar? I've just started - today was Day 1 - and if anyone wants to join me in this ordeal fun way of getting in shape, I'd definitely appreciate the peer pressure. Big Grin Feel free to post your ongoing efforts here.

Just for the record, I did 10/10/8/6/8 today. Wahay! Smile

Edit: There's a spreadsheet up that you can enter your numbers into. Nothing quite like number-crunching peer pressure!

My sensei had us doing 100 "cuts" per day with a bokken. I'm a little less likely to do it now that I'm in an apartment with normal ceilings (vs. the 12' ceilings in the old mill I lived in before).

Well, I had a torn rotator cuff repair, so I'll need to check first- but I bet it'll be okay.

I don't know how many straight "plank" type push ups I can do right away.

Now I need to find out. Damn you Thirith Razz

I'm not a fan on how it just concentrates on one exercise. There's a combination of pushups, pullups, and squats that I like better, but I can't seem to find it now . . . .

You're probably right on that, Tongster. I'm not really following the instructions to a T; I'm doing the pushups at the end of my muscle workout (12 minutes on the bike, 3 sets of chin-ups, 3x3 sets of dumbell work, 2-3 sets of crunches). I'll see how it works.

I have actually started doing push-ups anyway... would be good to have a firmly motivated plan, though.

I also wish they hadn't taken out the pull-up bars that were in the park by my flat. Those are the muscles I want to work out more, to get into decent climbing shape.

Big deal, I've done a hundred pushups.

Not all at once, but if you add it all up over my entire life, that sounds about right. Razz

Yeah - i now have someone (offboard) nagging me to do this because I have started complaining about my fat arms lately. I hate it when they are right!

Also - now that I have JOB I can see a gym membership in my future. (Especially after seeing some photos of me from the Toronto trip.)

Snazz - do you have tall doorways? we have a bar that slips in and out of brackets we screwed to a doorway. So instant pullup bar. I ordered ours from Amazon. But I am sure you can get them around.

I've also got one of those doorway bars. They're fairly practical - if your doorways are high enough, that is.

I've got slightly sore muscles this morning, but I'm sure that will quickly change after the second and third round of pushups.

If they've still got those lower ones I saw you can do pull-ups lying down and pulling yourself up from underneath. It's not quite as good, but ladies can do it easier Razz
