Day 1: 7/7/6/5/5 - Not heroic -- oh, and I went to the knee-length version. Perhaps this is day 1 of six-week #1..?

Initial test:

Push-ups: 12
Sit-ups: 30
Squats: 8

The exercises are modified for me so I can concentrated on the muscle groups without getting that 'cracked thermometer' feeling in my back, but I'm doing them. Smile

I don't ache.. I can't decide if I'm doing it wrong, or if it's coz I lift things all day at work so they're kind of used to it

well i don't ache as much as i thought i would. my lower stomach muscles and my arms where they join my body are sore. but i've been doing a lot of carrying/lifting stuff recently so i think that's why i don't ache as much as i could.

on the other hand, i think i'm maybe not lowering myself enough on each push-up? how far down do you go?

I'm sort of feeling the same way, Fion. I'm not as sore as I thought I'd be. My shoulders hurt a tiny bit, but no more than they do if I sleep with my arms over my head. I wonder if I should have tried to do more.

How low do you go and how slow do you go? Do you do them as fast as you can, or go down slowly and painfully?

Based on everything I've read about fitness and muscle exercises, you should definitely not do them as fast as you can. It's much better to do them slow, go as deep as possible, and do fewer reps. You'll see much more of an improvement.

i'm not going really fast, i'm definitely trying to do them properly. on the one hand i feel like i should go lower and do fewer, but on the other hand i feel like if i go lower i may collapse during the first one.. i'll see tomorrow when i do my day twos...

My form might be wrong. I feel like my wrists and elbows can't support me if I go any lower.

I'll have to have The Boy watch me do them tomorrow and see if I'm doing them right.

*feels silly that she may not be doing pushups right*

I messed up, trying to do it from memory, but day two isn't 'til tomorrow. That's why I went 7/7/6 ... instead of 7/7/5 ...

I used to do them 'til my nose nearly touched the floor, but the little video has el dude looking forward, so I did other ones 'til my chin almost touched.

It's not my stomach that makes me stop; my upper arms just can't manage it. When I tried to do the full body ones, I couldn't keep my back straight, so I switched to the knee-ups. But yeah, they're not rapid-fire; it's the tortoise route for me.

yes but remember the french fable from La Fontaine : the tortoise may be slow, it will eventually reach the end before the rabbit...

Done day 2. Not motivated enough to do Furious' other exercises yet.

"The other night I dreamed that King George VI was dead, and that Helen Hardinge had somehow or other got herself proclaimed Queen of England, and that I was detailed to go and tell her that it wouldn't do at all; and when I did this, all she said was, 'You see, I am really Queen Mary,' and I said, 'Oh very well' - words to that effect, and woke up.

Last night I dreamed that Eisenhower came to stay with us, and he insisted on being put to sleep in the dog kennel, with a collar and chain about his neck."
