I found this on the Laika website. It looks like it could be a poster or concept art for the movie. You can check it out for yourself at http://www.laika.com/entertainment under the "projects" section at the top. Not quite sure how I feel about it. I think Coraline looks like a Powerpuff Girl or one of those cartoons off of Cartoon Network. I didn't really imagine her that way. Then again, I didn't really see Dakota Fanning as Coraline either. Maybe I'm just being pesimistic. It's too early to judge. It just seems to me that they are trying to "Americanize" it. The dark, dry British humor of the book was something that made the book what it was. Somehow, I don't see Fanning pulling that off. O well! I'm sure it will be great no matter what they do with it. Plus, it's the first official artwork! How exciting is that! Big Grin

keeping in mind that even that site says 'Stop-motion and CGI' I don't think that poster will be very representative of what the film will be like. However, I think it looks interesting.

I would love to see McKean's artwork instead even though that poster is very interesting.

That does look more than a little stupid. If i saw a poster like that connected to anything else I wouldn't see it. I looks like Disney trying to do Gaiman. Imagin that; Scene four - the Button Eyes song. Ergh!

The poster is cool.
I don't think that it represents what Coraline will look like in the movie.

And what's up with your attitude "DNNDNDNDNDNDND..."

I like the poster too. Coraline would look Disney-ish if it weren't for that expression on her face...and the Other Mother behind her is just plain creepy.

Although I DO hope the movie isn't to cartoony (if you know what I mean). Like how Disney always used to water down all those fairy tales...like The Black Cauldron. I've never seen it...but just the fact that it was a cartoon bothers me. It needed to be live action. But that's just me rambling again...

I actually have nothing against Disney cartoons. Just...Coraline cannot be done like The Sword in the Stone or Cinderella. It is not all happy-happy like those movies. If it's close to any classic Disney cartoon, I'd say Beauty and the Beast, because in truth, that movie is just plain scary if looked at closely. But still, Coraline doesn't have any sweet songs. Just creepy Rat ones.

Okay, I'll shut up now.
