One of my favorite things about AG are the Coming TO America parts. I love old American history, and was wondering if there were any books/infosites that you guys would know with that type of information. The Real history of America. Thanks in advance.
I've been working on that very same thing, looking for info on the idea of the gods he writes about. All I can recommend is a good book on Native American customs/religons and generally anything about belief systems such as Wicca that are focused on the natural world tied into the supernatural.
Now, while I'm Australian, I was quite delighted to see someone refer to the visitors and settlers of America pre Columbus. Seems to be something mostly missed and or denied.
Someone to look up: Barry Fell. I think America B.C. was a book of his (if not it'd be someone else, who you should also check out.)
Turns out you had Egyptians set out circa 230BC to prove that the world was flat (kinda thing) who visited a bunch of pacific island, made it to America and couldn't get around, then turned back and settled in Polynesia (which language is closely related to an Egyptian one.) That's the bit I recall, but there is more about America specifically, iirc.
Alternatively, if you are more interested in fiction, some of Anne Rice's old novels have people moving to America. They also have vampires and witches, but they'd be at least as accurate as Dan Brown.
