people who eat, sleep and breathe roleplaying games discussing the best system for American Gods (they also do this for Sandman and Neverwhere sometimes) the favored suggestion, Unknown Armies, is one of the best games ever |

I'd offer a variant Exalted system, but I think everything should be a variant Exalted system, so pay me no mind.

dude... you need to hang out at rpg.net forums, then... every second thread is about Exalted... and stunts do indeed rock (though i prefer Feng Shui-- less dice)
i don't think Exalted fits at all. someone on that thread probably mentions Exalted, since the board is obsessed with it, but i think Unknown Armies-- where you play minor mages or people who embody aspects of reality-- fits much better or maybe standard World of Darkness, like Changeling or Demon (their two most Gaimanesque games) (alright... the climax of AG works perfectly for Exalted, and the Games of Divinity Sourcebook has tons of Gaimanesque stuff...) I s'pose the best game for American Gods might be Nobilis, since it's centered around being a god, etc. But Unknown Armies is a wonderful system, so that'd probably work well too. Not having played Nobilis, I'd be inclined towards trying that, so I'd have an excuse to buy the book.
Oh, and if you really like stunting, try looking at Wushu. Although it's not ideal for modeling complex tactical modifiers and other things a rules-rich system like D&D or UA can give you, it is fantastic for running action or anime-ish games. |

*grin* man... you guys are on the same wavelenght of RPG net...
yeah, Nobilis is worth buying (my friend has a copy) since it seems built to model Endless... and its got very pretty art by guys like Charles Vess. its utterly Gaimantastique i think someone ran an AG game at a con here once, but i don't know the details... been ages since i've read American Gods, though oddly enough, the Mage game i'm in has us hunting Loki, and the ST is a huge Gaiman buff... so we'll see where that goes |
