Hello All:

Finally started reading American Gods after having it on my bookshelf for about two years. Needless to say, I am hooked, about 150 pages in after only 24 hours.

Maybe I am just being greedy, but I was wondering if anyone can tell me if AG is going to be a series of books, or whether it is a one-shot deal?

Thanks for any information you could provide.

There is a sequel novella/short story 'The Monarch Of The Glen' which features Shadow, published in Legends II edited by Robert Silverberg (it was a big hardback which was then split into three inexpensive paperback volumes)
Yes, you should try Neil's Anansi Boys next, fresh out within the last week. Mr. Nancy from American Gods is in it.

I think that AG is the kind of story where Neil can do several spin off.

The king is dead, long live the king.

If you want a happy ending, that depends, of course, on where you stop your story.

To influence a person is to give him one's own soul. He does not think his natural thoughts, or burn with his natural passions. His virtues are not real to him. His sins, if there are such things as sins, are borrowed. He becomes an echo of some one else's music, an actor of a part that has not been written for him. The aim of life is self-development. To realize one's nature perfectly that is what each of us is here for.

yea anyways another great book by gaiman, is stardust, a adult fairy tale, its more trolls than gods, and in reads differantly, but you'll like it.

[even my 78 years old gran ma like it, and shes picky.]

The Sandman is the single greatest literary work in any medium of the past twenty years. Buy the books, borrow them, steal them if you have to. If you liked American Gods, this is a must.

Relax, you fiends! I'm only joking.

New to the forum, though not new to Gaiman. Thought i'd just make a post here instead of creating a new thread..

Started reading Sandman back in Jr. High and High School, though i stopped collecting for a few years, and started back up in 2001. This is when i purchased the complete Sandman series, as well as American Gods. (Already had Good Omens, Neverwhere, and Stardust, and enjoyed them.)

I'd have to say that out of all the books of Neil, American Gods is by far my favorite, though i have yet to pick up 'Anansi Boys', and it is on my priority list to get in the next week or so.. As well as a re-read of American Gods..

I've browsed this forum from time to time in the past, and thought it was about time that i just joined up and said hello... Big Grin

Been collecting comics on and off since i was a little kid, and current titles that i stay consistant with are Fables, Y-The Last Man, Spider Girl, Walking Dead, The Army of Darkness series, and a few others, as well as the regular purchase of some graphic novels that get my attention......

Anyway, hope that i can fit in here a little bit.. I'll try to keep up with some of the topics/posts, though it can be a bit intimidating for a new comer here, as there are a lot of posts, with a lot of responses, and a lot to read through.....

Needless to say, huge fan of Neil Gaiman and looking forward to 'Anansi Boys' and maybe getting into this forum....

PEACE

Neverwhere is a great tale. So is StarDust. I also highly recommend the sandman novels. I have yet to read Anansi Boys, which I will probably purchase tomorrow to read. I am quite sure it will be a great read.

Hi, I'm new here, too. Thought though this thread my be fairly unrecent it was a good one to start at Smile
I read Stardust first. I think it's quite good, but it was a bit too 'pink' if you ask me.
There's nothing I could say against American Gods, though. Cool to know there's something like a sequel, though I hoped there may be another book about shadow. The last senteces sounded a bit like that. Maybe one can hope, though? Roll Eyes Smile
