bonjour à tous. si vous voulez parler en anglais (If you want to speak english) S'IL VOUS PLAIT parlez clairement sans argoter (PLEASE speak clearly without argoting) parce que je suis germaniste et que je me suis déjà arraché la quasi totalité de mes cheveux sur imdb.com (cause I'm a germanist and cause I arrached the quasi-totality of my hair on imdb.com) et particulièremant sur les topics qui chicanaient sur les trois batailles des marais en l'an 200 de l'ère de l'Elfe Vert A Grandes Oreilles (and specially on the topics where the three battels of the marais in 200th year of the Green Elf with Big Ears were discussed)
De toute façon je suis diplômée en big challenge niveau Lv2 4e et 3e (j'ai gagné les deux fois, non mais) et en inventationnage de mots alors...

I'm coming to my topic.
So... Well, hem, I hated american gods. nononono I didn't really hate, but since the first sentences something goes wrong (they are too short, oder? aargh désolée c'est l'allemand) In fact it seems me that I wasn't waiting for this kind of book...

let's discuss about that, no?

sooo please speak SLOW-LY and CLE-AR-LY for me... huh

Julie-Maus -

I think perhaps people are still recovering from the last discussion of "why I did not like American Gods." My perception is that the discussion got very unfriendly, and perhaps no one is ready to try such a discussion again, so soon.

Really, it's not that people are ignoring you in order to be unkind!

There are a few people here who did not like the book. However, the number of people who disliked the book and read French is slim to none. Although we have many international posters here, it's still very English-centric.

Can you express in English what you disliked? If not, we can post a link to a translation site and attempt to converse using that...

er... I said it, as soon as I open the book and as I read the first sentences, something goes wrong in. I am perhaps not *on the same rythmic* as these sentences: I feel like they are too short.
When I read the book, well, I read it but I didn't really *enter the story*. Something really strange. Like I was walking around a house and all the doors are closed.

But I promise (???) you I won't ever talk of it again... Wink

Bis bald! Tschüs!

As I stumble again into a probably long-dead forum, a problem with the sentences may have come rom your reading a French translation of the book. Then again, maybe you just don't jibe with Neil's writing. I think I was considered one of the big arguers in the last topic of this nature, but whatever. Your taste is your own. I, for example, don't like ice cream, and most other people seem to.

Relax, you fiends! I'm only joking.

The point about taste is a good one.

An awful lot of people say something like "This book is bad" when really they ought to be saying "I don't like this book." It happens on the www all the time.

For example, people are always recommending Bujold's Vorkosigan books to me, but I just don't like the things. On the other hand, a lot of people whom I respect seem to like them, so it would be silly of me to say that those are awful books.
