Sweet! Someone thinks I'm right! That is so cool!!
I am printing this page out and sticking it on my refrigerator!!!! Jaer Who was told he was wrong when he said 2+2=4 (But, as we all know, 2+2=5 . . . for extremely large values of 2 that is.) |

About Schrodinger's Cat, check out the trilogy of novels under that name (at least one of them is) by Robert Anton Wilson. He also co-wrote the Illuminatus Trilogy. Think you'll enjoy them...heh, heh, heh. ;-)

Well, after great amounts of thought on this I'd have to say that while my favorite moments in the book were definitely the realization that Low Key was Loki, Loki and Odin were working together and most of all that the kids were in the trunks of the cars because they all took me by surprise, my favorite LINE from the book was the one where Whiskey Jack was talking about Coyote and said something to the effect of "Coyote would argue with rocks and the rocks would WIN." I don't know why but that just really tickled my funny bone.
On a side note, though, I was especially amused by the Norn Sisters scenes at the Tree of Life since I just couldn't get the characters from Ah! My Goddess out of my head as I read it and was just waiting for the youngest sister to pull out a mallet or something |

UUUuummmm. I'm kinda surprised that no one has mentioned where Shadow and Wednesday are driving and Odin had a somber moment and starts to describe all of the charms he knows.
I'm a big Norse myth buff and I cursed myself for not guessing Low Key Lye-Smith was Loki. I mean I read things backwards just to see how it sounds or if it would make a good word and I missed that. I even know the legend of Loki getting his mouth sewed shut and I STILL DIDN'T GET IT. Sorry. I had to get that off my chest. The charms was good. The part that smacked me the hardest though was Wednsday getting shot. I really liked him. Even in the end "This battle is for Odin." |

I liked the bit between the covers...
I just don't know how he (NG) can, in like 2 lines, make you feel as though you know and care about a character, no matter how bizarre nor otherwordly they may be. |

The opening of Mr. Nancy's house in Florida, when he describes the house as smelling as though it's "haunted by the ghosts of long-dead cookies". Killed me. Seems so insignificant in terms of the magnitude of the story, but by far one of my favorite lines.
Nod to the "I believe" speech, as well. I'm not immune, I read it five times. And each time I thought, "Stop showing off you cheeky b*st*rd!" ;-) Really impressive passage. |

quote: that killed me too. i thought it was so funny! one of my favorites was when laura went to the motel to talk to shadow. i thought to myself, only neil can bring a dead person back to life and still make it sweet. *quasi-me* [This message has been edited by dreamer (edited 08-31-2001).] |

Hey, all. First post here for me. For some reason, the little bit where Laura gets a job at the gas station is, I think, the funniest thing I have ever read in any book. Not sure why I found it that amusing, but I did. Maybe it was a case of being in the perfect mood for it. I dunno. Yes, the Raven's line was good, too, as well as the realization that Low Key was Loki, probably because it took me by surprise and I can't believe I didn't see it before it happened. Them's my two cents.

looks like my fave parts have been mentioned already ^^; no harm in me mentioning a few more I guess...
~ the part where Mulligan shot the Kobold ~ The part where Shadow and Wednesday were saying: Shadow: But you're a God Wednesday: So? Shadow: It's great to be a God. ~ The part where Loki knifed the techie fatso ~ Shadow's moonlit encounter with Zorya Poluchnyaya (sp?) ^_^ "I believe that anyone who claims to know what's going on will lie about the little things too. I believe in absolute honesty and sensible social lies" - Samantha Black Crow, from American Gods |

Holy cow, this topic is ancient! Good of you to bring it back.
I love this little banter thing when Wednesday drops off Shadow in Lakeside: "'Don't get into any trouble', said Wednesday. 'Keep your head below the parapet. Make no waves'. 'All at the same time?' 'Don't get smart with me m'boy´." I keep picturing some crazy knight on top of a parapet jumping up and down, flailing his arms in the middle of a siege. lordvader |

The slow agonizing death of Shadow on the tree immortalizes him. Excruciating for a mere verbal contract and a few mugs-o-mead, gotta be the pivotal moment. If only life was really... so right here and right now.
