Thoughts on which actors will be the most appropriate to play Morpheus or Daniel. Granted, real life people can hardly live up to our expectations of Dream, but who comes close?

David Bowie in Labyrinth is perfect, even has the hair to go with it.
Jonathan Rhys Meyers? A little young, but he has the cheekbones

Come on! David Bowie? Maybe when he was younger, but not now. I don't know who could play the Sandman, but, as usual, there will be someone horrible to do it (just remember John Constantine and Nicholas Cage. Ag)

We meant David Bowie in Labyrinth, which was more than 10 years ago, so yes, that was when he was younger.

Even David Bowie in Labyrinth was too old, in my opinion.
I'd love to see DAniel Day Lewis. Or Ralph Fiennes.

Here’s a suggestion for Morpheus I haven’t heard before: Hugo Weaving (Elrond/Agent Smith)! He’s got just the right voice for the part (and isn’t Morpheus’s voice his most distinctive feature?). He also has dignity and presence.

He’s possibly a bit too old, but since I’ve always thought Sandman should be an animation then it shouldn’t matter much.

I still think Cage would be an okay Constantine, but whatever...
Hugo Weaving is way too creepy to play Morpheus. Unless thats the point... he really scares me.

Guy Pearce (Memento, L.A. Confidential, The Time Machine) would be a great Morpheus. He has dignity and presence, he's a great actor and he has the cheekbones smile (He also would be a great Constantine!)

I like Bowie. I don't think The White Chameleon is old... he seems beyond time (Eternal?!) and makeup makes marvelous jobs on these days...

I like Weaving. He should be really considered.

I like Depp, but I don't know, there's something imperfect on that.

OK, I will probably get crucified by this suggestion, but is one of the best I can think: James Marsters. Yes, Spike himself.

This is the part where you crucify me, calling me heretic

He's not a bad actor (I think he's good razz) [B]when[B] the 'Buffy' crew know how to use him. He has good voice too...

WAIT A MINUTE! How does Morpheus voice sound?
(subject for a forum?)

Keep on dreaming

I think Neil should play him. That's just me. Actually, maybe Jeremy Northam (An Ideal Husband, Emma). He kind of looks like him...and he'd look pretty cool with the hair.

Jeremy's the one on the right.

I was thinking the same thing about Marsters. And don't worry about the voice-- the guy's from Texas, and he still makes a damn sexy Brit. He can pull off whatever's needed.

So firstly, I am "new" to this version of the site... I was a regular to the old one. On to the question...hmm, this is tough. Dream has so many faces. He's drawn so many different ways, which is essential I think, because of his nature. It would be kind of nice to see maybe a couple different people actually play him. It would be more true to the comic in that fashion at least. Bowie might be good for the times when dream is haggard and worn. Trent Reznor (NIN) would make an excellent sulky dream. Neil himself would make an excellent Dream in general. Brandon Lee would have made a good happy or mischievious Dream, (may he R.I.P.).

peachy keen. yeah.

For some brief moment during watching The Four Feathers, I could see Heath Ledger as Dream.

I'm with Clover on this: Daniel Day-Lewis, all the way. He's got the smoldering intensity to play Dream, as well as the looks.

Bowie should play Lucifer.

ok - so i like the guy - wouldn't say no *g*
BUt
agreed too old (and for the person who said he had the hair 'twas a wig mon ami)
playing lucifer - not 'cheeky' enough in the face - perhaps with some cgi??*G*

right - people who can play morpheus - pierce is too small and too naive in the face - depp - possibly though too hyped over and his accents suck!
as for trent and gaiman - closest so far - but not thought of an exact - and marsters *jokingly slap* next you'l be commenting that anthony head would be a good constantine
(talking of whihc - cage as john - where???)
nope no ideas of my own - but soon... thoughts for the walk home methinks..

I'm gonna agree with Vroom. It hadn't occured to me before, but Day-Lewis would be great.

I think Daniel-Day Lewis in that photo is fantastic, cheek bones and all, although I do disagree regarding the eyes. I know Morpheus technically doesn't have NORMAL eyes, but I always thought his eyes would have to be somewhat compelling. Also, who could play the new dream King, Daniel. Someone who looks a little less jaded perhaps?

re: The eyes.. I assume they would do something with them, seeing as they are supposed to be something akin to staring into the heart of the blackness of space. Possibly simple all black contacts, or more probably that combined with some CG work for that deep spark that's supposed to reside there.
