I'd go along with that, she could do the smart but spaced-out/preoccupied thing quite nicely...

I think Ville Valo would make a good Dream, and he's got the voice, at times its really mellow, and other times its creepy. |

Tom Waits as... um... i have no idea. Tom Waits should be in it, though. Maybe as the voice of Matthew. Yea, definatly as the voice of Matthew... hell, didn't Matthew's death involve Burma Shave signs? Waits wrote a song about them
in the same vein, Nick Cave as Desire. Or possibly Dream |

The woman who plays Kayley from Farscape as Delerium. Possibly Death, but she needs a role that lets her act a bit ditzy and odd and, um, like the most wonderful person in the universe.

ohhh... nobody, i hope. i really hope there is never a Sandman movie. i dread the day i walk into Taco Time and have the option of ordering a kids' meal with my choice of Morpheus, Death, or Corinthian pull-back cars.
if they did do one, i'd hope they'd at least have the integrity to use an ensemble cast, as opposed to getting a bunch of big guarenteed box-office stars (although David Bowie would make a mighty cool Lucifer, admittedly). --- oblivion's not so bad. you hardly notice it when you're there... |

Why is Affleck too young for Dream when Dream is supposed to appear 17 or so?

hi there folks! i suggest that guy from "Matrix" should play Morpheus, forgot his name though, whats his face Reeves (tall, slim, pale, high cheekbones, PERFECT!)?

wow... thats a confusing post for several reasons. i dunno if it makes more sense for Laurance Fishbourne (who plays Morpheus in the Matrix) or Keanu Reeves to play Dream... Fishborne might look wrong, but Reeves can't act.
But, random 13 year old troll, you did inspire me-- what about Aussie Hugo Weaving, aka Smith? He's scary and awesome and immortal. I'll ask him about Sandman if i see him (he apparently hangs around here)... |

With the magic of hair/makeup (75% of hair in film are wigs):
Christian Bale, or Guy Pierce-they both have that bony gaunt look and can act as well. They are also not Hollywood enough (although that will change for C once Batman comes out) to overcome the film. Johnny Depp too. I had always thought to cast Desire with 2 people-man/woman, both who looked similar and were androgynous enough to interchange them in scenes. So, from one shot to the next her gender would appear to change. Carrie Ann Moss + Orlando Bloom? Death:-a funny story-about 4 years ago, I was talking to an actor who is a well known and self professed "geek" and I happened to mention the Sandman stories-he had told me that he and his buddies had a script that was in prepro (preproduction) and, they wanted to cast Julia Roberts as Death. Needless to say, said script never made to to see celluloid. But I digress....don't yell at me--a gothed up Heather Graham. I'm trying to bypass the obvious choices, Winona, Fairuza, Parker, Christina. I see Death as being radiant, and Heather can do that and be goofy as well. I'll try to redeem myself now... Despair: the man who played the fat woman in the remake of "Dawn of the Dead"-I originally wanted the mom from "Throw Momma From the Train", but I think she's dead. He would have no qualms on being naked on set or on celluloid forever. Wow-to respond to that casting would be depressing: Hideous, fat, naked. Delight/Delirium-perhaps that lovely girl from Lemony Snicket? So many young actress are tarty looking. Alison Lohman-I know she's older, but she did play a teenager in "Matchstick Men". Destruction-the huge dude from "Lock, Stock & 2 Smoking Barrels". Destiny....ah...we never really see him, do we...aw, hell-Viggo Mortensen-it would be a shame to cover his face up, but he does have the gravitas to pull it off. My, I'm wordy... To let you know-this is my first posting ever-on any site. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well we all shine on, like the moon and the stars and the sun... Like many people in here say...Johnny Depp! The guy is an accomplished actor. Oh, and you know who ought to direct Sandman? Tim Burton. I think you all know that only Tim Burton could bring the visuals to life that we've all seen in the terrific works of Neil Gaiman's Sandman series. Whatdayaknow, 'ol Timmy and Johnny have worked numerous times before...c'mon, you KNOW this pairing can't go wrong for a Sandman movie! Now if only someone could send Sandman to those guys, they might be intrigued...
For the hell of it... Destiny: Tim Robbins Death: Fairuza Balk (seriously!) Destruction: Any big 'ol Scot Despair: Kathy Bates Desire: Charlize Theron (so turn her into a brunette!) Delirium: A rising starlet |

er... no, Keanu Reeves can't act. And when i see 'Matrix' and 'Morpheus' i think Laurence Fishbourne, who can act... but looks wrong for the part.
Audrey Tatou would be great as Death that young girl from Lilya4Ever as Delerium or Despair, maybe? but thanks, Lady Doom... you have inspired me. I think Hugo Weaving should be somewhere in the movie... i'm just not sure who he'd play. He's got the whole 'immortal' thing down perfect, though. He'd make a good dream.... |

quote: Hugo Weaving plays Agent Smith. He was, to my mind, the best thing about the two Matrix sequels. Maybe the guy who played the Oracle woulc play Destiny? He teaches acting at a school near me.... |
