hmmm.... I was thinking what about Val Kilmer...
Now I'm not a big Val fan at all, esp. lately, but what he did with that roll as Jim Morrison(!)..
Then there's the 'chameleon actor' himself-
oh great! NOW I go blank!--He was in True Romance with Christian Slater,he played 'Drexel' the pimp... GARY OLDMAN! yeah, that's him! Just tossing about ideas other than previously mentioned...

i have to agree with johnathan rhys-myers as dream. i'm also throwing out there that i think john cameron mitchell (hedwig) would be a perfect desire.

Depp has the strange ability to make bad movies based on British graphic novels watchable, so he'd be great for a Sandman movie.

I'm basing the above only on "From Hell", of course.

and I think i'd prefer him as Desire... he'd get a chance to be a bit more scary and seductive that way.

See you, space cowboy.

I see why you say this, but was MR. DAVID BOWIE not born to portray LUCIFER MORNINGSTAR(TM)? Wink

If I am missing a crucial point, I apologise, for I have not yet seen LABYRINTH(TM). Red Face

MUJERDESOMBRAS,

I think that MR. RHYS IFANS would make a perfect JOHN CONSTANTINE: HELLBLAZER™: he resembles the character; he can pull off the necessary accent; he can act, & is capable of walking the line between smarminess & charm that the character requires.

...& women like him, as we saw in NOTTING HILL™ & LITTLE NICKY™. Wink

Jeremy's the one on the right.

MAGOOBLES,

Having worked with MR. JEREMY NORTHAM, I don't think him suitable for that particular role, but based upon the photograph supplied by you, I do think that he could portray MR. NEIL GAIMAN.

this is quite a frightening topic.

you forget, in order to make a good film, you need the three key elements: good writing, first and foremost; good direction; good acting. i'm going to focus on the third.

good acting automatically and rapidly rules out the likes of hayden christianson (was that his name?), anne hathaway (you had to be kidding about that one), david bowie (*great* character actor, though), val kilmer (that was funny), trent reznor (he's a singer, not an actor--we've all seen Light of Day), etc. etc. etc.

this leaves johnny depp as a maybe. however, he's already done the quiet/strange/wacky-black haired guy role already, albeit a completely different character. i think johnny depp would be too distracting.

this leaves, ralph fiennes, who in my opinion can act in anything and be anyone...also, i think alan rickman is an interesting idea that could be something...though honestly i can't see either one of them. i bet you could get a pretty interesting Dream from those two guys, though.

and just for fun, i always pictured jennifer connelly being Death. heh.

p.s. forgot about Daneil Day-Lewis....now there's a good idea. he's an outstanding actor, but i don't think he wants to work anymore, right?

picture it. from Bill the Butcher to Dream the...the...Dream the...damnit, ran out of witty reply juice.

Think about it! Desire's a bit of a ladyboy, asexual voice, asexual looks, with a little bit of make up I think MJ would make a great Desire! And the voices in my head could play Delirium... Eek

if this was ever to happened, half the fans of sandman would lynch the casting director.

again i say, hell no.
frankly, jackson doesn't remotely look beautiful nor can he act. the reason he looks asexual is that half his face is plastic.

sorry don't mean to be harsh, but the sandman series is dear to my heart, as it is to many to this board, and it would be in my opinion, an insult to the character if jackson ever got remotely near to the part.

*shudders*

Tough, really tough ! For Lucifer , I think Viggo Mortensen should reprise his role from the Prohecy. For Corinthian, either Vincent D'onforo(I know probably misspelled his name), or Sam Neil(In the Mouth of Madness). How about Nathan Lane as Abel , & Terrance Stamp(Superman 2=General Zod) for Cain. No Sandman , but I do have a better choice for John Constantine than Nicholas Cage.....Guy Pierce. Well, there ya go, take care

It's not what you say anymore...., it's all in how you say it.

What about a manga series of Sandman, as in something along the lines of X1999? Anime? I think it'd be groovy, and voice actors would be much easier to choose than actual actors. David Boreanaz would make a cool Dream... James Hetfield from Metallica could do the voice for Destruction!! Smile It could work...it'd take SOO much time though, but it could be really cool. Yoshitaka Amano (of Final Fantasy&Dream Hunters fame) could work magic on it. PS Sorry - I'm only new to this... just read all the Sandman & Death graphic novels last week so I'm a bit of a virgin in all of this. Roll Eyes
