I think Lara Flynn Boyle would make a good Desire. But it'd be clever to find a man and a woman who are both attractive but look alike and just have them trade out scenes depending on the sex of the other characters.

Orlando Bloom as Desire?

Purely from the photo of him on the LOTR set with his hair in a bandana which took me a while to figure out if it was a boy or girl. No idea if he could carry it or not though.

Well, originally Alan Moore creates John Constantine thinking in Sting.
For Sandman could be anyone, you doesn't need expresion or charm, and he will be full of make-up, so what's the matter? Only must be skinny and tall.

You're all daft. Desire is David Bowie.

Brian Molko has the androgony, but David Bowie is, well, David Bowie.

I'd have to say that Desire was David Bowie, when Bowie was younger.

He's still an interesting-looking guy, but he's lost a lot of that seductive androgeny that he had back in the 1970s.

Even Annie Lennox (my choice)

is getting a bit aged for Desire.

Jack White as Dream

Just think about it for a bit.

And, if she can act (Jack was in "Cold Mountain"), get Meg to be Death...

Excelsior!

According to the Gaiman-ster, David Bowie was actually Lucifer.

Check out his journal entry for today.

Doug: I got one. I should want to say hi to him nicely, I shouldn't want to keep him in a big jar in my basement.

Mr. Chairman: Alright, Doug, that's great, we understand that now. Go on, though. Why shouldn't you put him in a big jar in your basement?

Doug: Because.. his breath would fog up the glass, and I wouldn't be able to see him..?

I just thought that I'd cast my favorite female supporting character in Sandman:

Scarlett Johansson as Nuala (both with and without glamour)

Hmmm...it's hard for me to figure out an actor for Dream. But I can take a stab at a few of the others:

Hob Gadling: Sean Pertwee. Thumbs up to Patrick M for suggesting this one, b/c I wouldn't have thought of it, but it's brilliant!

Rose Walker: Anna Paquin. this role I think she can pull off.

Destruction: Brian Blessed

Nada: Thandie Newton

The Corinthian: James Marsters. I currently hate his character on the TV Show Angel, but the actor I can see playing this role.

Lucien: Damian Lewis. He's a little bit too young, but I can picture him in the role.

Oh god, do i agree with that one...

*tries to think of a role Bill Murray can fill, mostly 'cause Bill Murray rocks*

Hrm... give him the part of whoever human gets affected by the Endless. Or, if there's a need for comic relief (there shouldn't be...)...

Oh, and James Marsters is actually a Texan. He just does a good Brit accent.

Excelsior!

I thought it, but didn't type it. Don't ask me why. But yea, he'd be perfect.

Oh god... i think its the wine talking, but suddenly a Ghostbusters/Sandman crossover is starting to seem like a good idea.

Also, the plot of "Groundhog Day" sounds like something one of the Endless would do... but i can't think of any of them who'd let him get off so easily. Dream's version was the "eternal waking" curse, and that was just nasty.

Excelsior!

I even think when Neil was thinking about what Sandman should look like, he thought a bit of himself. Just have him grow his hair some more, and shave his beard. Dolly him up in some pale makeup and spacy eyes, and you've got Sandman.

Who's the guy who plays Snape in the Harry Potter movies? He'd be great to play Sandman when he's pissed (like when he was being held captive and a little after he finally broke free).

I do agree, they should have many different actors playing the part of Sandman for his different emotions. But Neil, and the guy who plays Snape are my first choices.

*sigh* It'd break my heart...

Oh, and i figured it out: Bill Murray's Cain. Nathan Lane's Abel. Rodney Dangerfield could be Abel, but thats too obvious.

That'd be Alan Rickman, known to American moviegoers as that guy from Die Hard, and the Voice of God from Dogma. Girls here seem to like him.

Hmmm... why not Samuel L Jackson? If you've seen Unbreakable, you know what i'm talking about... he could do the voice, or one of his incarnations (if you're filming the story of that girl he left in Hell when he was an African diety, you better get him...)

I just thought of something... besides Dream, one of the ultimate goth icons is the Crow, right? Played by Brandon Lee, son of Bruce Lee. So, you'd need the son of one of the following to play Dream, to keep with tradition:

Jet Li
Jackie Chan
Sammo Hung
Zhang Ziyi

Er... most of you know this stuff better then I do. But you get my point... if Bruce Lee's kid did such a good job playing an uber-goth, just get the kid of some other marital arts badass...
