In Hy Bender's book in the section discussing A Game Of You, there is a reference to a nursery rhyme, part of which says "...one flew east, one flew west. One flew over the cuckoo's nest...". I'd like to track down that nursery rhyme, title and text. Does anyone have a clue as to a source? Thanks! coolghouls@comcast.net

Vintery, mintery, cutery, corn,
Apple seed and apple thorn; Wire, briar, limber lock. Three geese in a flock. One flew east, And one flew west, And one flew over the cuckoo's nest. As more of a finger game than a nursery rhyme, it doesn't really have a title, at least no more so than skiprope games and such do. The above text is the version given in Ken Kesey's novel, but there are others. __________ AJGraeme "You see, I have a policy about honesty and ass-kicking: if you ask for it, I have to let you have it." -Taylor Mali "Science is the foot that kicks magic square in the nuts." -Scratch Fury |

Thanks very much. I wasn't sure that a reference from Kesey's book would apply, but it appears that it does. You've been very helpful; I appreciate the input.
