I've been searching all sources of Neil's superb Sandman work, and I was so surprised to find a lot of things that I'm actually still studying at school..!!

But there's still something missing (sorry if it already has a topic, but I wasn't able to find it anywhere): who are the three gods of dreams, with whom the Gates of Horn and Ivory were made, together with Dream's helm..?

I have searched in Latin Literature, as the gates already appear in Virgil's Aeneid, but nothing..

I thought of Ganesh for the Ivory Gate, but he isn't actually a dream-god..

Can anybody help me..?

...42.

There's no such thing as a one-sided coin. There are two sides to every sky.

Maybe Neil just made up the idea of the gates being made out of the bones of dead gods. That'd be my guess, even though he borrowed the gates themselves from Virgil. But if anyone else knows otherwise, feel free to enlighten us Smile

With a quick search I found the following dream gods:

Dream Angus (Celtic - Scottish):

Mari, a goddess:

Eyengui, another god of dreams (African?):

Valdorn, God of Dreams and Dreaming (a Dungeons and Dragons invention?):

and the list could go on. Note that Morpheus himself takes the shape of some of other dream gods from mythology from time to time. There's no telling who exactly Neil meant unless he specifically wrote down their names somewhere.

Is the Sandman Companion of any help on this?

The Companion doesn't mention it. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he made this part up.

Black Wings loves all of you, even though many of you are new since he vanished for a year.

Boundless love for all!
