huh?
Tons of comic book characters died... all the major ones have, at some point, 'died'. But most of them came back to life. Usually the only comic book characters who stay dead are the ones who are a part of a superhero's backstory-- Batman's parents, Spider-Man's uncle.
If Superman can 'will' himself alive with the help of the Phantom Stranger, Morpheus can, um, do the exact same thing. Only it would make more sense.

I don't think he should come back, but if Hector Hall can come back from dying and being disintigrated by Dream... anyone can

(hell, they brought back the Marvel Captain Marvel, and his death is a classic Marvel graphic novel)

But not to slam down on superhero comics or anything, just because a character has been brought back to life, to make some more cash etc, doesn't mean they should be.

Neil himself when asked to sum up the sandman in 25 words or less replied "The Lord of Dreams learns that one must change or die, and makes his decision."

That Morpheus dies is the whole point of the story, bringing him "back to life" would have no point and i don't see how they would be able to make it possible.

However, i'm as much of a fan as the rest of you, i have no problem with filling in some of the gaps, or stories that were alluded to, during the sandman run. If they ever get around to making a movie i would honestly prefer them to come up with a completely new script based on one of these even'ts too. Cause really how do you hope to cover even a small part of the original story in 3 hours without screwing it up completely.

oh, i completly agree with you, Hal. hell, sometimes it pisses me off in superhero comics-- Kraven the Hunter got a great death. He shouldn't come back.
But i just keep needing to point out to people who don't read many comics that 'dead' just means 'dead until another writer comes along'... and that goes double for supernatural beings

i'd tottally love to see stories 'filling in the gaps'. in particular, what were the Endless doing during the Crisis on Infinate Earths? and a seriously cosmic Jack Kirby style comic with Dream would rock so much

If the sandman were to come back, i think it should be as daniel. I mean the point of the story was that the sandman was going to die isin't it? Plus im curious to know who daniel is going to be, and I believe that if they were going to show morpheus it should only be in the relm of death. After all, his host would be his sister....

yea, Daniel showed up in a Justice League comic written by Grant Morrison to fight off the Star Conqueror (a giant starfish)

i guess he'll make occasional appearances in the DCU, assuming Neil approves

Yep. The Bible is a popular book, but AFAIK, nobody tries to make a movie of the entire Old Testament in one go.
