Who would you cast as Death?

I had to give it some thought, it's not an easy one. The best I can think of is Eliza Dushku though she would have to play it quite differently than Faith from Buffy.

I'm sorry if there's a thread on this already...

How about Keira Knightly?

Keira Knightly? Bleh. She's overrated.

I can't think of any actress who would make a great Death. Personally, I think it'd be a great role for an unknown to play.

That can work too. I think Amy Acker would make a good Death too.

Amy Acker, yes. I don't know if she would make a good Death or Delirium, but I'd like her to be cast in the movie anyway. As anything that fits her.

It's hard to detach the actress from the role she played before. Fred's personality (Angel reference) had a lot in common with Delirium. But it's also really fun to see her play something completely different, like the role she had on Alias.

You didn't see Amy Acker play Illyria did you, Amy can play characters that are quite different from each other in personality.

Need someone really happy as Death.

Drew Berrymore?

Tori Amos needs to be Delirium.

I could also see Summer Glau as Death. For those who are familiar, she was River in both Firefly and Serenity.

Here's the link to her IMDb bio with a very stunning picture: Summer Glau

Oh yes Summer would make a great Death. She already has played characters of Delirum too. River is the child of Del.

Wait, is Illyria that goddess or something that takes Fred's body in the last season of Angel? Yes, that was quite a different personality.

Natalie Portman and Drew Barrymore are GREAT ideas to play death, I always really thought the best actress for her would be Christina Ricci, though

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

wait a minute, it was called 'Casting Death' not 'Chasing Death' Sorry. I'm on here at 2:00 in the morning (another 2:00 am!) and don't tend to wear my freakishly large-Robert-Crumb- similar glasses...

But still, I personally think Christina Ricci should play death. She has the Goth look and the character in real life and film.

I love Christina Ricci, but I always thought that part of Death's unqiue appeal in Sandman was how serenely joyful she was, and how loving of life. Ricci really doesn't convey that ... she's more Emily LeStrange than Death, IMO.

I have the same impression about Christina Ricci. Even when she's playing a completely joyful person, there's something not quite light-hearted about her. But you said it better than me.

I'm all about casting unknowns as much as possible. I get so tired of seeing the same actors over and over! That being said, I do think that Claire Danes would be great, and we know she's a fan. She's got the talent and the looks. (I think)
As for Delirium, it should be... ME! Smile
