I say Noo-ar-la but that's with an Australian accent. I'm guessing someone from America would say "all" instead of "ar".

Had to pop in here... my sister is a Nuala. And it's simply pronounced Noo-lah.
Short for Fionnuala (Fin-noo-la), one of the Children of Lir, and meaning "Fair Shoulders". Also related to fennel in some way too. |

I've always said "noo-all-ah," as if it were a name from a romance language, which I figured it was.

Noo-lah. Nuala. It's a genuine Gaelic name, and as I said, shortened form of Fionnuala.
Trust me on this. I'm half-Irish, and my lil sisters wears the name. (She wasn't half chuffed to see herself in the Sandman, too!) |
