I may have missed something as i don't read "The Dreaming" comics as I tend just to go for the stuff written by Neil...But what's happened to Matthew the Raven? There is a picture in the back of "Sandman, King of Dreams" by Michael Zulli, a beautiful picture of "Daniel" and his Raven Tethys...I just wondered whether Matthew still resides in the Dreaming or whether he has had enough of the new kid on the block and taken Deaths hand to escape it all! Hope you are all having a good week / Weekend...

In The Dreaming comic series, Matthew died.

I've always wondered how Neil felt about that. As far as I know he's never mentioned it, or his opinions of the Dreaming comic series as a whole.

Personally, I liked the series until the end when it started to get all wonky with the Corinthian(s).

For no reason at all, i now want him to be Deadman's sidekick.

That just popped into my head. I dunno why. I'm sick, and i like Deadman. He's cool.

Oh! But that doesn't count! Only Neil can (or should) be allowed to kill any characters! Matthew was my favourite... Frown
Gotta agree on Lucifer, that's a really good comic, I have just finished the second book.

Tehcnically, Matthew wasn't Neil's to start with.... and lots of the other main chars were borrowed from other places. As for who actually owns them, *shrug*

And he died. So what? Its not like death is a permenant thing in comics. There's retcons, and universe reboots, and just plain brining him back from the dead. Won't be the first time its happened.

(I dunno what it is in the DCU, but the rule for Marvel is that the only chars who will stay dead are Bucky Barnes and Uncle Ben)

The thing about it, as well, is that Matthew died already, before he even became a raven.

(For any who don't know, Matthew Cable was an Alan Moore character from Swamp Thing, husband to Abby Cable/Arcane, who ends up being Swampy's love interest. He 'dies' while drunk driving. There's some weird stuff with magic and such where he stays around for a while, but eventually he's officially dead. Then (and this bit happened off-camera, but is hinted at) Dream comes to him before he goes on his final journey with Death, and offers him a chance to live on as Dream's raven.)

Seriously, treat no death as final. I loved Element Girl's story, but if some writer ones to bring her back for a story (new version of the Outsiders? maybe? please?) or a series, and the DCU brass say yes, they'll just "retcon" it-- say she wasn't really dead, or came back to life, or whatever.
They might not, since it was such a good story, but since its not Neil's character they can't do much about it.

Hell, Hector Hall came back, and was completly disipatted by Dream.

So... yea... it really robs the Death char as some of her sting if you think of her realm as a revolving door, but the fact remains that death in comic books is one of the most impermanent things ever...

(Except for the deaths that define a character-- Batman's parents, Spider-Man's uncle, the Planet Krypton... those are pretty unlikely to get reversed)

Discounting, of course, the sweet, wonderful world of clones.

Gwen Stacy clone, anybody?

Evil Spider-Man parents?

Hell, even the Spider-clone died, then came back, then died again in an issue that saw the second death of Norman Osborn, the first Green Goblin, who would later be ressurected again anyway.

Brain... hurt!

And, of course, the Heroes Reborn Bucky... not really a ressurection... but why the hell did they do it?

Wasn't Rob Liefield involved with Heroes Reborn?

...reborn Bucky? Damn.... I seem to recall Bucky in Earth X, but if he was there i remember him being pretty cool, especially since that was an alternate universe.

Yea, Spider-Clone mostly sucked, and Pete's parent clones were kinda cool, then got lame...

but at least Uncle Ben stayed dead (and yes, every time he dies i get choked up)... i want to write a story where Pete Parker meets Death... hell, a version of "High Cost of Living" or something with her would be good, since Pete's agnst is, in its own way, even more pointless then Sexton's...

No, I don't think Bucky showed up in Earth X. Maybe in one of the follow-ups, since I don't have all of them, and there were various adventures into the afterlife.

And I guess the Heroes Reborn thing doesn't count... it was a "different" Bucky... it was a girl, for one. And she didn't join him until after he got his memory back (the HR version of him getting unthawed).

Rob Liefeld was involved in half of it, Captain America and Avengers. Jim Lee was responsible for FF and Iron Man. The only one I got the whole series of was FF, and I enjoyed it.

Rob Liefeld didn't even finish his part... Jim Lee ended up taking over the whole thing.

But damn, Jim Lee's Dr. Doom... freakin' awesome looking. As was the Thing.
