Neil said, um, somewhere or other that he'd like to tell the story of her transformation someday, with Jill Thompson as artist, and that it's a very sad story.

I think it also has to do, with growing up. She is the eternal child of the group, and once she was younger and in the happiness, guess the so called innocence of youth. Then she started to grow up, and she became a young teenager most of the time she stays in that young teenage mode, and she discovered life isn't always so delightful. You can say in a way teenagers are in a delirium, caught between innocence and knowledge. Her next stage is to become an adult. Rape though might have changed her or a lost love. Does she represent the universe as it matures ? Del is never one that goes out and intetionally harm anyone even in her darkness, usually it's a defenese. Though she is bipolar. She sees things that are beyond Destiny's book. Though I don't know what that can be, feelings maybe, or Hope. Though that is more her sister Despair's realm. I like to also know who killed the first Despair and why.

I am somewhat of an expert on the subject of delirium(not the sandman series, but insanity
[from experience] ) In the Brief Lives graphic novel, Delirium was able to talk very clearly and calmly for a short time when she was defending Dream. Shortly after that she broke down again. She said that it hurt. Her manic depression(or delirium) may keep her memory at bay. Reality, for some, is a dreadful and inhumane place. Delight realized that, and ran away from this world the only way her consciousness would allow. If you mix 100% delight with 100% hate you get 200% delirium, which results in an explosion. Her former world was no more. There is no delight now, only delirium. Now she travels the world bringing people love - "A saw this person with the cutest smile, I made it so he'll be happy always" - retarded And hate - the cop that pulled her over is now strapped to a bed seeing bugs eating him alive, - severe psychosis I hope Delirium will not become the newest Despair. (the change Destruction spoke of) That seems to be the most likely. I would Like for her to be the new Destiny.(if she could handle it) This message has been edited. Last edited by: LeadHead, |

first off i really like Aitapata's idea that the fall of man made Delight turn to Delerium.
After remembering that the first Despair died I thought it could just be that each of the Endless has to not just be the personification of what they are but also to reach the natural fulfilment of what they do. Delight is removed from reality and turns to Delerium, Despair dies (possibly by her own hand) Destruction can not destory forever, Dreams change, Death went from sad to happy, only Destiny seems unchanging |

I wonder if any woman has ever loved Destiny and would defy that book to say with him in his garden.

This thread got me thinking for a while to what Delirium could change into I think it's some more positive than what she is right now. I can' see her getting worse. More positive and less delirious (if she got to change I mean). Maybe Neil will write that part at some point. We can only hope. Only he knows.
